When did you all start showing??

I am 16 weeks and 3 days and I havn't really begun to show yet. :( People keep saying to me that I won't show for ages cause I am tall (5'10) and skinny (55kg) Wondering if this is the case? I've notice that girls that are smaller do tend to show earlier. Wondering at what stage in your pergnancy's did people start to notice that you looked pregnant??

DH and I could see the bump from around 14 weeks, however people have only just started commenting I'm starting to look pregnant in the last month or so and I'm now 29 weeks!
I'm also small 5 ft and started at around 43kg

I'm 5ft 3 & started at 55kg & I started showing at 27 weeks. I think everyone is just different. I wouldn't be too concerned, the smaller you are the less chance of stretch marks (I think) I didnt get any stretch marks so although I was complaining through my pregnancy that I didnt get to enjoy "being pregnant" for much of my pregnancy I am glad I was nice & small & didnt get many stretch marks. So they both have their good points & their bad points. I'm sure if your bump was too small the midwives would let you know but I think you'll find its perfectly healthy....

A midwife told me that if you measure (with measuring tape) from just under your boobs to the top of your pelvis (the bottom of your bump area) the amount of cm's should equal the amount of weeks... interesting. So I think people just carry babies differently so thats why they come in all shapes & sizes.

Dont forget that all pregnancy bellys are beautiful... big or small. It's an amazing time in your life, enjoy it :)

Well I am only 5ft 2" and I am approx 15kg overweight, but up till about a week ago I really didn't think I looked pg, and could 'suck in' my belly LOL now I have no hope, I suck in and nothin' happens. Also had a complete stranger come up to me yesterday and put her had on my tummy (for a good 30 seconds) and ask me if bubs was a boy or a girl, I don't mind family and friends touching my tummy but I hate it when strangers do it. I also think that because I have had 2 pregnancies that also makes you 'show' a lot sooner.

With DD I was into Mat Clothes at around 14 weeks, but 'popped' around 20ish...

This time round, I was into mat clothes at 12 weeks, and clearly pg by 14!

I support your theory. I am short and with DS1 I showed at about 7 or 8 weeks. With DS2 I was showing before I was even 4 weeks pg! Needless to say we didn't wait until 12 weeks to tell people, I had people congratulating me before I even knew I was pg LOL!

Wow, reading all the "second pregnancy" early showing bellies gets me excited that I may be able to look PG for most of my next one.....I guess we'll have to wait & see, it will be nice to have people congratulate me haha

I'm 164cms tall and weighed 53kgs prior to pregnancy lost 9kgs due to ms and didn't really look like it was obvious that I was UTD until I was about 30weeks. Up until then it just looked like I had a little pot belly and when ya really looked at my belly you could even make out my abs.

Rusty, a girl I used to work with was pretty much your build exactly and from memory she would have started to show after 5-6 months or so. I thought being so slim she'd show very early but apparently that wasn't the case.

Don't worry about it Rusty - everyone is different. Usually you will notice your belly 'pops' when your uterus gets too big for your pelvis. It sits inside your pelvis usually and as it expands, you won't really notice it until it starts to rise out of the rim of your pelvis. Does that make sense?
I know with DD, one day I was wearing all my old clothes and had a lovely flat tum and literally, the next day, I was out buying maternity clothes. But then my belly stayed the same size for months before it started growing again.

I am 5ft2 and 18 weeks pg and very obviously pregnant.
I have a friend that started at the same height and weight (approx) and she is hardly showing.
I think it is not just your height etc that plays a part but also how you were 'designed' to carry a baby.
My Mum who is the same height as me but was smaller in weight when she first fell pg did excatly the same thing - i tend to carry loads of fluid and had 'deposits' where there never use to be, despite eating a healthy diets (hardly any extra intake of food) and plenty of exercise.
As someone that has got to this size early i am envious of those that hardly show. It can be very depressing at times!

I think I started showing at about 6-7 months. I too am tall (5'11''), so was told that that may be why I didn't show much..

DD was born at 8 months, and when I went to the a&e (I didn't know what was happening, didn't expect labour for another month, lol), the nurse on duty asked "are you pregnant?" and was very surprised when I answered "yes".

I'm 6ft tall and started at 64kgs, I didn't really look pregnant pregnant and not just flabby till after 25weeks and stayed the same till 35weeks then balooned lol

WOW....it all varies doesn't it???
Suppose I should just stop worrying about it and just let my body take it's natural course. I feel very proud to be pregnant. All I've wanted since I was a little girl was to be a Mummy. I guess it is annoying me a little that I havn't really started to show. I thought I had since I have put on weight, but now realise that it is because I am eating the wrong foods (Breads and carbs) and I'm bloated! Dunno.....guess I'll just have to give it some time.

this is my 2nd preg and seriously i am almost 14 weeks and have a huge(in my mind) pudge belly. muffin top and all. unlike my 1st which ended at 14 weeks i cant do my buttons up on my pants. though i have to say i can def feel bubs moving up out of my pelvis. i think also there might be some weight gain from not eating really regularly and stressing about the preg(wanting to look Preg). im a 170cm and have gained i think about 2-4 kg in 3 1/2 months.

Everything will fall into place for you.... I understand the "wanting to show", I remember I wanted to see a bump to confirm I was actually PG lmao (after losing my first I was sure it would never actually happen for me... but of course it did!)

I have a funny story for you about the difference in bump sizes....

A friend of mine & I were due 2 days apart, she was due 2 days ahead of me, we used to go walking along the beach for excersise through out our pregnancies. One day when we were about 25 weeks PG, we were sitting under a tree at the beach having a drink when a man approached us (or should I say he approached Lisa, not me lol) & he told her about an excersise class he has at the beach for new mums, he gave her a brochure & I sat there right next to her listening, when he turned away to leave my friend asked him if I could have a brochure too, he said "well I suppose so, sometimes we get woman without children in the class too". I felt like crying & said "We're only 2 days apart!"

He gave me an apology & a brochure & I cried about it later. Lisa tried to comfort me but you know the pregnancy hormones!!

A couple of months later we were at the shops when a lady asked Lisa "when are you due?" she replied (I think it was) "5 weeks" The woman looked at each other & smirked then said "wow you're huge, you'll never last another 5 weeks" Poor Lisa, it was my turn to comfort her.

So it goes to show, all bumps are different & no matter how big or small you are there are always going to be up & down moments. Just please try not to let anyone get you down about it.... all bumps are beautiful!

Zennie just have to ask, but what is a "muffin top"? I have heard this expression before and have no idea what it means LOL
