Just wondering if anyone can fill me in a bit on inducing ovulation with FSH?
I'm not really wanting to see my FS again just yet, we're still *hoping* that my cycles will return naturally. But since we'd love to fall pg in early 2008 - well we're running out of time.
So any insight into the FSH process woud be great... eg how many injections, cost, timing of it all etc....

i have PCOS and so dont get AF and do'nt oulate. i was started on different clomid tablets for over 3 yrs and they didnt work. i was then offered FSH injections. ihad to take them from day 4 on alternate days to begin with daily internal scans from day 10 to monitor follicle developement. the doses were increased each month and then changed to daily. unfortunately the first brand of FSH didnt work for me in fact i over stimulated and ended up in hospital with ovaies the size of eggs rather than almonds as they should be.
i was then given daily doses of FSH from a different brand and 2nd cycle i ahd teh right size follicles and just the right amount. between 15-20mm and 2-3 ineach ovary. on day 14 i was given an injection to ovulate andi concieved. lucklily the first time i ovulated. i was told to make love 36 hrs after the injection but was given advice by one of my friend to start making love as soon as the folllicles start to become anything over 15mm as sperm can survive in the body for up to 7 days and if the sperm is already waiting when you ovulate the chances of conception are greater.
with regards to cost, kinda expensive. each injection cost £17-£35 depending on the dose and brand. so privately can be dear. here, in th UK a certain amount is offerd on the NHS so we didnt have to spen dtoo much.

Thanks so much - that was just the kind of info I was after. So it definitely looks like the FSH injections are fairly full-on... not looking forward to it if that it the route I have to take, but then the eventual outcome will always make it worthwhile - thanks again :)
I injected once a day and had an bt every second day to monitor my estrogen level. I also had u/s to monitor the follies and make sure that I wasn't over-stimulated. I started on 50 but it wasn't doing anything so went up to 75 on CD15. Evenutally on CD28 my estrogen was high and I had 2 nice follies so we did IUI. We were fortunate enough that we conceived first cycle on FSH/IUI. The injections themselves don't take much time but constantly going to the clinic for bt and u/s does..............but if it gets you what you want then it is worth it!
