We really, REALLY need some help

OK ladies I need ideas.

We're currently in the process of training DD who is 3 next month. We're about 2 weeks into it.

She's doing wonderfully with wees - will tell me when she needs to go, get on the loo and do a wee quite happily. But we cannot get number 2's happening.

She's holding....and holding.....and holding.....asking for a nappy to be put on so she can poo. Which we're loathe to do because she's doing so well with the wees and I just want to get rid of nappies altogether so she doesn't get confused :(

She hasn't pooed for three days now and is getting constipated which is only going to make matters worse - I'll get her something for that tomorrow but I don't know what to do to help her past this!

She doesn't seem scared of it, she just WON'T do it. I've tried to bribe her with everything under the sun and no joy.

Please help!! :pray:

Matilda did the same thing, absolutely refused. It wasn't until she got nappy rash for having a nappy on after a poo that she started doing poos. I told her she couldn't get nappy rash on the toilet so we went for that.

Until that point we just told her to tell us when to put on the nappy or pull up to do the poo. I guess to me I figured that if she could hold it she could tell me when she wanted it & I wouldn't make a big deal about it. It took her 3 months to start doing poos on the toilet.

Oh Flea, I feel your pain. Jack will only do poo on the floor atm. He won't do it on the toilet, or in a nappy or undies. Whatever he has on he takes off and poos on the floor. I hope this passes soon.

Yesterday I found a poo in the backyard Melanie....and we don't have a dog I can blame it on :cryinglaugh:

You're not giving me much hope here ladies :lol:

My eldest son did this. to be honest I just let him poo in a nappy.. when I relaxed about it he went back to regular poos and one day he did a poo on the toilet and he was fine. he was 2.5 when he TT and was around 3.5 before we threw awa the nappies in the day time all together,,

sometimes it is easier to just let her poo in her nappy but get her to tip it into the toilet and flush it. And tell her it is good she is trying but wees go in the toilet not in her nappy. Eventually she will pooo on the toilet i promise :)

I aslo got a packet of fredo frogs which helped get him interested in doing the poo in the toilet ;) It took a couple of months and then we had to wean him off the freddos but we did and all was good.

I think I just assumed that as soon as she started pees in the toilet the other would automatically follow but that doesn't seem to be the case!

What we've decided to do is what Cristy suggested about the pull up - I've asked her to tell me when she needs to poo so we can put a pull up on. She seems ok with that, and she's pretty regular in that department usually so I should be able to catch it LOL.

We've started a sticker chart as well as a form of gentle encouragement but we're not pushing her. To be honest I'm so over this whole business, I don't really care where she poos as long as it's not on my dining room chairs like she did the other day!! :(

Hugs Flea. As you know, I totally understand what you are going through. And as you know, it could be worse!! It will work out for you, I just hope it's soon!

Flea - we also had this trouble with our 3yro boy. He ended up really constipated and then wouldn't go because it hurt. I made up a huge reward chart which I stuck on the bathroom mirror so he could see it whilst sitting on the toilet. He's a big Thomas fan so each time so the rewards were all Thomas related. I divided the chart into six columns and in each one of the first five I stuck a new pair of Thomas undies and a little Thomas book into a plastic bag (he could then see but not touch). There was a big number over the column. Into the sixth column I put a Thomas DVD. Each time he did a poo in the toilet he chose which book/undies he wanted and he put the new undies on and we read the book (amongst much fanfare). He also got to cross out the number. I had to do this in conjuction with using parachoc (chemist) which is a stool softener, not a laxative. Made it all come out a bit easier. By the end of the chart he was then OK with using the toilet.
