Yes, My DD#1 did but i don't have any great advice she seemed to do it for entertainment so I just tried to distract her. Now she has a chip out of her front tooth that was no doubt partly to do with the grinding. She doesn't do it as much now but still sometimes. Sorry I am not much help.

My DD did this aswell. Actually she was around the same age as your DS when she started. It lasted 3 weeks or so and then started up again when she was older (maybe around 14mths) I don't know why she did it and I didn't like the sound of it either.
The only thing i could think of was that maybe she was teething. Because around both those times she did get more teeth. Other then that, she might have accidently made the noise and then liked it...
I am not sure but I hear it is fairly common and alot of babies/toddlers do it. They do grow out of it :)

Yeah, DD does this from time to time, she tends to do it when she's a bit zoned out, either tired or overwhelmed or having a rare introverted day. I HATE the noise and worry about her teeth but i can remember doing it when i was a kid too so i just ignore her. Hopefully she'll grow out of it - i didn't do it when i had my second teeth.
