Frozen Bananas
LOVE 'em!!
When my bananas are over ripe and no good for eating I put them in the freezer. You can use them for everything!! Cakes, drinks or just to eat when it's hot.
I discovered a couple of days ago that they make great milk smoothies. Peel it (do this with a knife but if you are going to put them in a cake let them defrost and they come out of their skin very easily) put it in a container you can use a stick blender in. put in just enough milk (not sure how much exactly but it isn't much really) and buzz it with a stick blender... ends up just like a thick shake!! The kids LOVE it!!

Ooooh I have two very ripe bananas here so I might just freeze them for something :)

We freeze our ripe bananas too! Banana bread & muffins are fantatic. A place I used to go to when I was a teenager made the best soy smoothies using frozen banana and it was fantastic!

Excuse my ignorense but how does freezing them make them ok to eat?

Who has banana's that go too ripe. I can buy a kg of them and they will be gone in the same afternoon if I don't stop the kids (and myself). I love the idea of making banana bread, I love the taste, but like I said, the banana's never last long enough.
Bunch of chimps in my house ;)

Tegan, they aren't rotten just very ripe (lots more flavor in an over ripe banana therefore better for cooking with)! Freezing them stops them from going rotten. It's hard to buy bananas over ripe just for cooking. As you know bananas go off very quickly.
