Homocysteine levels
Hi all,
I am back on the TTC road again after having had 2 miscarriages this year. I recently found out that 'high' homocysteine levels can contribute to miscarriage.
I had mine tested in 2005 for family history of heart problems and it was 12.8 which is apparently on the high side of 'normal' (but my GP wasn't at all concerned because it was still in the 'normal' range). Does anyone know if this is considered 'high' for creating a sticky baby?
Any other info that anyone can provide on homocysteine would be great.
I know, I know, I should probably go to my doctor and discuss with her and get a more recent test but I would like to get a bit more of an insight from those of you who have personal experience too!

Hi Megsy,
It's definitely implicated with miscarriage and issues during pregnancy.
I know its an issue with heart disease as it causes the artery walls to become sticky and then cholesterol can build up. Not exactly sure how this relates to pregnancy.
Just make sure you are taking plenty of folic acid, B6 and B12 to reduce levels.
There are products out there with all three in one capsule.
Cheers, Lisa.
