breast pumps?
I am in the process of looking for a breast pump(an electric one not manual) i was wondering what ones you ladies used for previous babies and how good were they? there are a few brands around and i would just like some opinions from people that have used some of the brands that are around...thanks :)

I use an Ameda Purely Yours double breast pump... almost 5 months on and its still brilliant after full time use. Have tried others but didn't like them. Pumps are pretty personel and not all of them are for everybody!! It'll depend on how much you want to use it! Good luck...

I have a Medela Swing. It's a single boob one. Nice and compact, quiet. I have it for 'occassional' use and it works great for me. Like Jodie just said, it's a pretty personal thing though. But I haven't had any troubles (oh except when I left it on the stove boiling and completely forgot about it until I could smell burning plastic!:lol:.lucky all the parts are easily replaced lol)
Good luck!

I have used a few different ones (hospital, lactation clinic, my own etc). I have a manual Avent Isis one - the electric one is exactly the same as the manual one (kicking myself that I didn't just get the electric!) But I like the electric Avent one because you can set the speed. You start squeezing the handle manually and then when you are happy with the rhythm/speed you have set, you push the button and the machine takes over at the same speed you were pumping at manually. Very VERY nice if you have ouchie cracked nipples - you can take it nice and slow. You can get a single or double one - it's pretty pricey though.
The added bonus of the Avent is that the bottles are easily available at any supermarket (although also pretty $$).
Are you going to need to pump when you go back to work or something? I was just going to say - if you don't know that you will definitely need it, I reckon it's a good idea to research and decide which one you want and then wait and see if you need it before investing the cash. At least then if you do decide to get one, you can send someone else out to pick up the exact one you want and if you realise you don't need one, you have saved a few hundred bucks. Just my $0.02. :) It's what I wish I had done.
