Belly Rings??
Heya,
I have noticed my belly button 'popping out' a bit lately, and have realised i should probably start thinking about taking my belly ring out!
I was just wondering if it may close up (the hole)? And have any of you used the maternity ones?? What were they like?? They look kinda long, so i was thinking they might get caught on things easily etc??
I thought id have no problem taking my belly ring out, but i was just looking at my tummy in the mirror, and its just not the same. Its prob just me being used to having one for sooo long, but it might take a bit of getting used to i guess...

hi i used the maternity one from 20-32wks with DD1 but found that even though it was flexible etc my skin felt really tight and uncomfotable, so in the end i took it out. i never had any probs with the length and catching it. I did find that if i wore fitted clothes though it was very noticeable. I missed it when i removed it (still do) so i know what you mean, i had had mine since i was 14 and it was apart of me. After the pg my hole hadnt completly closed up i could get a sleeper through but not a proper belly button ring as they where too thick. I suppose i could have slowly stretched the hole again but i knew i wanted more children so didnt bother. I have just had #2 and the urge to get it re done has resurfaced but as DH says when was the last time i let anyone see my jelly belly, lol.

I ended up taking mine out probably around 27-30 weeks somewhere. I think the hole closed up but I just pushed the ring back through it after DD was born (yuck I know haha)
Good Luck :)

I had a maternity belly bar put in at around 28 weeks (my piercing was the one thing that made me still feel like me so I didn't want to remove it!!) and although it stuck out a bit I never had and problems with it catching on anything (as you're generally extra catious with your bump anyway..) My belly button popped out a little (and right out whenever I coughed) but it was fine and comfy right up till the birth.
Me at 37 Weeks

My belly button started to REALLY poke out and hurt at like 25 weeks, so i took it out and just never put it back in, that was a year ago and the hole only just closed up, before i could see through it!! Pretty funny!!

Thank you all!
I think ill see how i go with the maternity ones, and i guess if its a no go i can always get it done again. As stated before, my belly ring is a part of me, and yea, not every one may see it, but DP and i both do, and we both like it :) Thats all that matters lol!

yer my belly button hasnt really popped out heaps but i took my belly ring out about 5 weeks ago, just more comfortable without it in! not sure if the ring still goes through, will try after the birth but if not i will get it done again!

I used a maternity one from around 13 weeks left it in till Jack was 8 mths only took it out cause he had this habit of lifting my shirt and pulling on bar drove me nuts, I even left it in while I had c-sect they just taped over it  I have had it since I was 18 way before they were cool should put it back in

My belly button is starting to pop out a bit i took mine out the other week as it was starting to get red and sore with me bumping it forgetting that i now have a tummy. To make sure that mine doesnt close up i just put in back in every 2nd day at night time and when i wake up i take it out. My belly hole is prone to closing very easily and this is working great for me. Good luck

I took mine out and ive noticed that my belly button has popped out even more, so im thinking my belly ring was kinda preventing it from popping out fully.
Im okay with it being out now. Im used t it a bit :)

I usually just take it out when it starts to hurt/stretch but this time I am getting a proper maternity one!
If you dont like the maternity one, you could always put fishing line thru the hole so it doesnt close up.

Hi i went through a full pregnancy with a maternity belly bar in my navel, i did have to make sure it was clean more than normal other than that it was fine.
this is my second pregnancy with my navel pierced and i have no intention of removing it. i was so surprised that i was able to keep my navel bar in that i decided to sell these bars mys elf as i had lots of good stuff to report on them hope this helps.

i took mine out when preg with dd and then when she was about 6 months i realised i hadnt put it back in! so i tried and it slid straight in - havent worn it for ages , but hole is still there.

I took mine out around 16 weeks, it was starting to get caught on clothing items!! That being said, it has been out for over 7 months now and the hole is still there! I'm used to it not being there so it will stay that way.

I put in a belly ring the other night and it hasnt closed up, lol...but im liking my belly button without a piercing, so might leave it be.
