My little girl is weaning herself.

I am another one in here who is very sad about breastfeeding journey coming to an end.

Since I returned to work my DD was down to 2 BF day, one upon waking and one before bed, couple weeks ago we had to stop the bedtime one cause she just kept fighting it and wasn't interested.

Now recently the morning on is starting to go the same way. In the past week I've got her to feed twice, each time telling myself it could be the last.

Its just funny considering I could never get her to take a bottle til she was 9.5 months old now the excitement she used to get over my boobies she now has over her bootles.

I suppose on the brightside she got to decide for herself to do it but still I really feel like she is rejecting me. I just wasn't quite ready for it.
Hopefully she'll give me a couple more before she completely gives it up.

My little man is the same age and I know I'd be devastated if he started to wean now without much warning. You've done a wonderful job feeding her for this long, well done.

I miss BFing too.

But... I get the best cuddles now. He wraps his arms around my neck and holds on soooooo tight and hugs me with his whole body, and then he relaxes a bit and pats me gently on the back. He didn?t do that when we were BFing, it?s just started since (probably a coincidence and he would be doing it anyway) but I like to think of it as the special Mummy/baby thing that we do now.

:hugs: I know the feeling.. My son did this at 21 months. He decided he had enough of his boo boo..

You've done a fabulous job breastfeeding. It seems so important, at the time, to get them onto a bottle. I wouldn't assume that breastfeeding would end really soon - that one last feed can go on for a while. At over 12mnths most health professionals would suggest cutting out bottles, too. It is normal to feel a little sad when breastfeeding comes to an end, but after you've had a little grieve, celebrate how well and how long you fed - buy a special little something for yourself - I recommend jewelry!

I am slowly starting to get used to it. I think alot also has to do with the feeling that she doesn't need me so much anymore. But I do have great memories of it all.
Barb, you are right I do need to get myself something, I was thinking I can now go out and buy some sexy new non maternity bra's!
