brown spotting/clots and streaks before menstruation

hi all.. sorry if TMI..

i am currently getting a lot very very dark brown streaks and also a brown blood clot i think to the point where I need a pad.. its happened in previous cycles before my period.. my period is due in the next couple of days..

just wondering is this brown discharge normal? should i be worrieD?

I can get spotting for a day or two before AF starts properly. It's enough that I need a liner. Doesnt happen every time though.

Since AF returned after breastfeeding I was getting spotting before AF arrived. If it continued to happen I was going to get an US to get it checked out to make sure there was nothing causing it but well, other events happened.

I'd mention it to your GP and get it checked.

thanks.. its getting pretty heavy.. sorry if TMI.. but most of the pad was covered.. but still very dark dark brown like old blood..

I wouldn't worry to much cause i think alot of us get this! I know i spot for about 2 days before AF really does start. Get it check out if you are really worried though.

If you are worried, it's best to get it checked out just for your peace of mind.

I have always had spotting for up to a week before AF - until I got preg. It was the lack of spotting that tipped me off I might be pregnant.

I also get brown spotting before AF for a few days.

also need to add.. that it also has a foul smell.. actually the slight same smell of normal AF.. any ideas why this may be?? :(

would i include this in my chart as new AF? :doh: it has the same consitency of normal AF but its just reeally really brown almost black...

I've had that type of blood too...

I was told by my natural fertility specalist that brown blood at the begining of a period is old blood, and that the blood is not moving through my body quick enough? Has to do with the liver? So all types of liver cleansing tonics / herbs work for this type of blood stagnation.. Anyway, this is what she told me, so I hope this helps you?

If you want to try some home remedies, maybe try a liver cleans, and maybe fresh juice like carrot, beetroot and celery with ginger and parsely and increase your water intake to help your liver... (I'm sure it can't hurt anyway)...

went to the gyno /ob today and he said because there was so much of it like my period, it is still considered to be my period.. he did an ultrasound to confirm that i was starting a new cylce and i was..

so best to go to your gyno and get it checke dout ;)
