Mozzie Bites
Hi everyone :)
Because of the flooding we've had lately there are still pools of water lying around so we have lots of mosquito's. DD has been totally eaten by them, She has little bites everywhere, Does anyone know of anything safe i can use on them?
-
I use Paraderm Plus cream (an all round first aid cream) from the pharmacy on DD1 - maybe check your first aid box for something similar and ring the pharmacist to check if it can be used on babies?

Poor little thing!
Of course there is the tried and true Calamine Lotion - you should be able to get this at any chemist or supermarket.
Or, if you dont want to leave the house...
Toothpaste. Good old fashioned toothpaste. Takes out the sting and helps reduce the swelling and redness.
Just rub a little paste on and around the bite til its almost rubbed in and leave it!
And a good preventative - instead of Rid! - we use 1 part dettol to 1 part oil, mix really well in a spray bottle and spray it on her skin - mozzies HATE it!
:) Good luck!

I second the calamine lotion. Also vinegar works...
-
I use paraderm plus as well when they get nasty... also if you have breastmilk it works wonders too :)
-
My GP recommended a mild steroid cream for DD, but I think that was only because she appears to be allergic to them and has quite a bad reaction with redness and swelling which lasts a couple of days.

Thanx guys, I had some camaline lotion already so i've used that - She has a mosquito net, I just haven't been closing it because we don't usually have mosquito's.. Poor little chicken, They love her... none of the rest of us have bites.

pawpaw cream from the chemist - works wonders on everything!
-
tiny bit of tea tree oil will take the itch away
-
calendula lotion / infused oil or paw paw cream. I swear by ti-tree oil myself but would be wary of using it on very young skin.

I bought tea tree cream.. thursday plantation stuff.. I use it on my older kids to ward off mozzies and to treat bites too.. the paraderm I use if they get infected
-
nappy rash cream works too
