Do you have a useful/busy box?

You know, like on Playschool when they get out the useful box to make crafty things?

Do you have one?
How big is it?
What do you have in there?

I am thinking of putting on together for DS, so far all I have come up with to put in there are:

pipe cleaners
felt
scrap fabric
empty matchboxes (doutful on this one though)
egg cartons
recycled wrapping paper
cardboard tubes (i.e. from toilet paper rolls or glad wrap)


What else can I put in there?
Someone suggested the matchboxes to me but I'm scared that they'd still be dangerous?

I dont have an "organised" one as such, more like everything all over the place! :redface: You could also put in the following which are good for crafty activities:

Straws
Old cotton reels
Lengths of coloured wool/string
Glitter (in a shaker like a salt and pepper one is good as it limits the mess)
Play doh
Stickers (DD has always loved putting stickers on things)
Old shoe boxes
Cellophane

As for the matchboxes, I dont know truthfully.

i have been thinking about this for krystal (maybe in a couple of months time tho)

empty boxes from the pantry (all sizes)
paddlepop sticks
old toilet rolls/paper towel rolls
cut outs from magazines (krystals loves any pics of animals or babies/kids - you could pre-cut or tear them out, so they can stick them down)
soft drink bottles

umm there is probably heaps of other stuff, i just cant think!

Another couple of things:

Cotton wool balls - different colours
Small pasta shapes/shells - good for glueing onto paper and card
Tissue boxes

We have a few :S

I couldn't tell you to be honest they are both the 30 litre tubs, and they are our craft boxes and they have soooo much stuff in it LOL!

A fun thing to do though is to get a big cardboard box and decorate the outside ;)

For pictures to stick onto things i buy the 50c or $1 wrapping paper from the cheap stores and cut out the pictures off them They have some great animal pictures on them. Also when books get really old and tatty i cut the pictures out and put them in a box, good to make stick puppets with too.

We have this........an old Huggies box, covered in potato print paper. It is looking a bit tatty, so I may employ Charlie to help make a new one!

I also have glue sticks in ours, & scraps of material.

And some of the tinsel from Christmas got added.

And I also have photocopies of photos of the kids that they like to stick and paste. (Olivia is into doing "scrappy pages, like Mummy does" LOL, can you tell I scrap too much. I have brainwashed her, LOL!)

Anything that I know I am not going to miss out of my scrapbooking supplies gets given over to the craft box.

Remembered something else.........stamping........fromt he $2 shop you can get cheap inkpads and rubber stamps.......it is less messy than painting!

i just had another idea - cutting out pictures from catalogues for them to paste down (eg. pictures of toys they like, or even the grocery catalogues, i know Krystal loves to 'read' these, and she points out the products she recognises!)
