VBAC question when overweight

Hi there

I am thinking of having a VBAC however, I have been told that this may not be possible as I am overweight and it would put too much stress on my scar. Last pregnancy I had 32 hours of labour ending up in emergency c/s as Julia got stuck in my pelvis. AT this moment my OB and I are discussing all options first before last resort of elective c/s if the baby's head may get stuck again in the pelvis due to my pelvis bone. Soooo my question is, does anyone have any success stories of VBAC for the 2nd or 3rd birth who was around 100kgs - 110kgs when giving birth? and how did the pressure of the VBAC affect the scar.

Alan or Kelly - if you have seen or heard any successes could you please also respond to my post that would be wonderful.

Thanks Samantha - im 96kgs now, so will be a bit more when I give birth. What was the previous birth like for you if you dont mind me asking?

Do you mean the c-section? It was horrid. General anasthetic, no skin-to-skin, endless breastfeeding problems, my baby being held by other people before me.

The VBAC. It was ok. I would do things again much, much differently, like ditch the OB who treated me like I was going to dramatically rupture my uterus at any moment, and stayed home with a midwife! :)

Thats the biggest load of rubbish EVER I was 108 when I had Seth. With Paris I never got past 3 cm's, 27 hour labour (I don't think I ever got into established labour), sintocin and then Paris went into distress and I was rushed off for a c/s. Seth's birth was amazing 14 hours, drug free active birth.

I would be changing care if they are giving you gobbldygook!

I'm 119kgs at the mo and I am being allowed to go VBAC2. They have not even brought up the fact of my weight because other than my weight, I am healthy anf fairly fit for my size. I've had no BP problems, I don't have GD (so no real risk of huge baby) and my last two c/s were simply bad luck. Kat went into distress and I was told if I'd had an hr more, I'd have had a natural, and Jess turned transverse at 38wks so c/s. This baby is head down, Dr IS worried about head size (all my babies have heads measuring a week or two above dates) and scar thickness, but not worried enough to rush me thru u/s dept who can't get me an appt till next fri (by which time I will be close to 38wks). I'm having pre-labour signs now so I MAY go before we even get u/s done. And Ob is ok with this so I'd say weight has very little to do with this! And what rubbish aout extra strain on scar. The one they worry about is the uterine scar and your weight does not really affect ur uterus or how hard it contacts (as far as I am aware. God help me if it does cause I'm doomed to another c/s if it does!).
