Big Bubba!
Hi everyone ~
I had Scarlet (4mths) weighed & measured today, She's HUGE 8.2 kg's 71cms.. Not chubby for her length or long for her weight but just a BIG BUB in the 95th percentile for all measurements...
I know this probably sounds terribly shallow but i don't want her to be the 'big' girl all her life, I guess i don't want her to be picked on... She's just so big for her age! DF & i aren't big people... actually no one in our extended family are even big, We are both what i'd call tall (he's 6'4 & i'm about 5'9) but we're both slim.
Has anyone else had a huge bub? Will she always be bigger then the other kids?
She's absolutely healthy & I'm stoked about that but i'm still worried..

liddlepixie remember she will start moving around soon and it will fall off her!!
i found this with maddy she was a big girl born(11pd 3 oz) and she is 14 months now and only 12kgs!! she shed lots when she started to move about!
it worries me about maddy being a big girl all her life as DP is overweight and so is his family!! i just watch what i give her!

Hayley, you will find that she will probably start to plateau with her weight soon, she will get more active and burn more energy. Once she is older, she will probably be just a tall lean girl and take after her mum and dad. By the time she is at school, she may not be the 'big' girl but I reckon she will be the 'tall' girl ;) and there's nothing wrong with that.

My DS is 14 weeks and I had him weighed 2 days ago and he was 7.2kg, so I would say he would be close to 8kg when he is 4 months. He is a chubby bubby but as maddysmummy says once they start moving around they will loose it. I wouldn't worry too much.

DD was always heavy and long for her age - now she is nearly seven and is tall and almost too skinny - although she is constantly eating.
DS was the same and only in the last few weeks since he has been mobile he has slimmed off a bit.

If it makes you feel any better, I was a BIG fat baby girl once! As I grew, I became stick thin and tall (wish I was still that thin now ;) ). So just because she is a big bub it doesn't mean she will be big when she gets older.
Your DD looks adorable BTW! :)

Hey LP,
Big is beauitful.

It will fall off when she starts moving but I do understand where you are coming from..
my sons 1 and 3 have always as babies been huge.. Our first son had the nick name "the michelin man" but to look at him now and he eats like a horse.. He is tall and skinny but healthy
and to look at it another way.. if your daughter gets sick in any way as in cold ect she has weight to lose.

I know exactly what you mean, I had a 6pd baby & he was sooo little & cute. Then all of a sudden he just took off. Both DH & i are short people, me being only 160cm tall, our bubs is 95% above average in his lenghth for a bubs his age.
I am getting sooooo very sick of "oh he's such a big boy", "how old did you say", "really, he looks much older"...he's doesn't have a roll on him he's just soooo long but it starts to get to me when everyone keeps saying it. I just want my little bubba, at 9months he is in size 1 already & has been for a few months now. But like everyone has said, he's stopped growing (for now), he's crawling, lots more active.
Don't worry about it, each bubs is different & they all take their own shape.
As I said, I'm only 160cm tall & I was the tallest girl in yr 7 but the shortest by approx yr 10 LOL.

Thank you all for your comments - I'm really hoping she has just had a spurt early & everyone else will catch up soon! It's just a shock that she's so big, She was born at 6.7lbs, so not heavy & 55cms, everyone commented that that was pretty long & the OB even said that could have been why she was frank breech, she has very long legs. I'm going to wait until she's crawling or even walking before i worry about it too much.
Maddysmummy, I'm glad i'm not the only one that's worrying about it, I did feel pretty silly even posting because like i said she's healthy, happy & meeting all her milestones... I just couldn't shake it from my thoughts though. That's such a valid point.. I'll be controlling her food later on so it should all be okay! Thanks.
Erin ~ I know exactly how you feel, I don't even have to wait for people to say anything when i tell them she's 4 months... I can see thier expression, but it's usually followed with a 'wow, i can't believe she can do this or that at that age' so that makes me feel a bit better! Charlie is gorgeous.
Aussienic ~ My DF had a bit of a giggle over 'the michelin man'.. he started thinking of even more nicknames for Scarlet.. lol.
Thanks Trish! It does make me feel better! I love the name Kieran for a boy.
