Hey

umm I used mozzie spray all the way thru my pg does it say on bottle not to use it ????
I am sure it is fine to use while pregnant. I certainly used mossie repellant.
When i was preg and half asleep i used rid roll on, as deoderant accidently!
In the very, very fine print on some chemical insect repellents there is a general statement that excess use of repellents should be avoided, as buildup can cause reactions in some people. Having said that, I live in the tropics and have never actually heard of anyone actually having a problem, pregnant or otherwise.
I personally avoided all repellents during pregnancy because a) I found this statement sufficiently vague to not want to use them, b) I don't use chemical repellents anyway because I am quite sensitive to the fragrances in them, and b) the essential oils used in natural repellents are all contraindicated for use in pregnancy. Because oils are more readily absorbed through the skin, it might actually be safer using a chemical repellent during pregnancy.
But to be honest, it's so unlikely that you'd have any problems, and if you live in an area with dengue or ross river virus, then you'd be better off with the repellent for sure!
I don't know Clueless but I hope not as I have done this several times - not Rid but 'Off'. I didn't know you couldn't but I guess it's logical that spraying poison over your skin is probably not a good idea... I look forward to reading your responses to see if I have been messing up too.
Thanks heaps.
I was at a BBQ and didnt think of it until I got home so couldn't check the bottle, but hopefully one dose will be ok!
If you had drunk a couple of litres of the stuff I would be a worried but one application to the skin shouldn't cause any problems at all.
My ob said it was better to use it than to get mosquito diseases when i went to thailand in september. I use it now but only if they are really after me :)
