Can you freeze banana?
I have quite a few banana's that are over-ripe and we are just starting DS on solids. Can i mash them up and freeze them? (I have never really thought about freezing banana before!). My only other option is to make a banana cake and i really can't be bothered today..

Thankyou! Do you add anything to it? I just googled it and the site i looked at said to add some lemon juice (no no for babies?) or orange juice. Is it ok just to freeze as is?

Yep you can freeze them fine. I used to peel them and freeze them in bags, as I find with the skin its harder to get the peel off when they are frozen or even worse when defrosted! I wouldn't add anything, just freeze them whole if you can ;)

Thanks Cai. I was just going to mash them and freeze them into cubes. DS was quite enthusiastic about them, which is great because the only other thing he has eaten properly was a chip he has found on the floor..

I chop them in half and stick an icey-pole stick in them and wrap them in glad wrap, eat like ice-cream, tastes like banana billabong or barney banana

omg you can freeze banana? wow!!
i always end up throwing our bananas out! which i hate doing!
oh well, now i know that i can freeze them, no more throwing them out! :)

yepo I was going to suggest the banana icy-pole as well. I use tuppperware icy pole moulds.
I think I were using an ice cube tray, i'd get one with a cover, I wouldnt want the banana uncovered in the freezer.

I know what you mean Rach! I wish i had realised during the banana shortage - i was pregnant and obsessed with just-ripe bananas. I was seriously spending $10 a day on bananas  so now i hate throwing them out but am finding they go black really quick in the heat.
RayRay - i did cover them because i wasn't sure how they would keep uncovered. Thanks!
