10th old biting other babies. HELP NEEDED!

Sorry title should say 10 month old............ (it won't let me edit title)

My DS has been biting other babies both at mother's group and daycare (attends 1 day a week) over the past month. It seems that he wants to interact with the children so he approaches them, opens his mouth and goes for it! He loves other children and is constantly trying to pull at thier clothing/hair, grab their face and bite. I cannot take my eyes off him and try to intervene before he does it but yesterday he bit my friends child on the forehead and drew blood. I have been discouraging him by saying "ow, it hurts" and gently removing him for the child, but, given his age it doesn't seems it work. I have tried saying NO ect with more force, but he thinks it's a game and doesn't really respond. He's very much wanting to make contact with other children.

Any other suggestions as I am most upset by this? Did anyone else's baby do this at such a young age and how long did this 'phase' last?

Hi Jac, sorry youre having trouble with your little man... I haven't had any experience with the biting but I have been told that to discipline at this age would be to remove him and put him somewhere like his cot or a playpen (without toys!) for a minute or so (not too long that they forget why they are there in the first place) immediately after him doing it (the biting or undesirable behaviour!) - they quickly learn they have done something wrong.

It's a horrible feeling isn't it:hugs:, my DD has been biting at daycare for a while but thankfully it seems to have stopped (nothing in over 3 weeks) but she was averaging two victims a day at one stage.
It was hard for me to discipline her as she only did the behaviour at daycare but I asked the girls to tell her, "that it is not ok to bite", that "biting hurts", and she was moved from the group where she was playing for a few minutes of timeout I also asked the girls to give her a teething ring when she bites and tell her to "bite this if you need to bite". my DD was a little older than your son( she started biting at 17mths) but in theory the principals are the same. I think she has become a lot better as her teeth settled and more so since her language has improved, I wish you luck
