STAY asleep son!
Bailey has been the best kid when it comes to sleep at night. He has slept through from 8 weeks of age...something I was scared to tell all my friends who had bubs that didn't in case they hunted me down! LOL
During the October long weekend last year we went away camping. Since then bailey has been waking up at night. Sometimes its because his nappy has leaked through (fair enough) or because he has lost his plug (dummy) - this is fine atm.
DP insisted for Chrissy we bought him a bed so that we don't need to buy another cot and then a year later a bed for him anyway. Yes logical!
The first few weeks were a bit annoying having to put him back in bed a couple of times before he would fall asleep. Now, sometimes we still go in mainly after he has had a BIG day with LOTS of attention. On average I would say - 20 minutes and he is asleep.:D
My problem is he wakes up in the middle of the night - ready to play! He has minimal toys in his room andnin fact, he does not play with them. (they are just teddies etc) He bashes on the door to be let out and in a quiet house it could wake the dead! Otherwise, he is half asleep sitting up in bed calling out to me. ANNOYING.
Most times I go in its just a matter of telling him its still 'sleepy time', pop him back under his covers with his teddy and plug. He probably asleep before I get back out the door.
So to cut a long story short, how to I get him to STAY asleep. He has normally one sleep now during the day (this started last week) for about an hour, maybe 20 mins longer. He is normally up by 7.30am and in bed by 7pm...all going well. We eat between 5pm and 6pm, then bath, bottle and bed.
I am getting concerened as DP never gets up in the night which I guess is my fault. I would prefer he slept all night rather tahn got up and missed out on sleep and then climb around on scaffolding etc during the day. (builder) DS #2 will be here in about 2 months and I have these visions of trying to BF at night and attend to a child who is ready to play etc
Sorry for the massively long explanation....

Jack started waking again just after xmas I thought I was going to go bonkers
but he has settled downagain
one thought with Bailey have you tried a gate on his door rather than have the door closed perhaps he is waking up and a bit scared of the enclosed room

In the last few months we have been leaving the door open for DS when he goes to sleep. We used to close it every night and he would cry and throw a tantrum and bang on the door, but once he said "please don't close the door mummy" when we were putting him to bed. So we left it open for him and he goes to sleep beautifully now.

OMG!!!!! He slept through last night although he did not go to bed until 8.30pm as we were at the inlaws and he was playing with his cousins. Maybe I am not exhausting him enough during the day? Bit hard when I am utd and exhausted myself!

That's great news Vixstar - lets hope the sleeping through the night continues for you... There is nothing better than a full nights sleep. As for the wearing them out during the day... I used to think that with my DS but even with a full day of events on every other day he still didn't sleep through so it's certainly not you and whether or not he is stimulated enough during the day - I think it is just when they want to the do - IYKWIM.... xxoo
