Abmormal Cervical Cells
Hi Everyone
Hope your all well!!
I was wondering if anyone can help me. My husband and I have been TTC for almost 3 months now. Back in May 2004 and August 2005 I had abnornal cervical cells burnt off (twice). Before we started to TTC I had a pap test and all was good, they found no bad cells. But back in 2004 they said after the surgury there was more abnormal cells then they had expected and removed more then they first thought they had to. Now I am TTC, will the surgury I have had make it harder for my husband and I to fall pregnant?
Just wondering if anyone has any ideas about this.
Thanks Bree

It shouldn't make it harder to fall pregnant. I have read that it might affect the way your cervix dilates while giving birth however if there is a lot of scar tissue.
I had CIN3 cells lasered off in 1993, and subsequently had another colposcopy in I think 1997. This did not prevent me getting pg with DS in 1998 and again with DD in 2000.

I've wondered about this too as I had a colposcopy and laser for CIN2 and CIN3 before I got pregnant with Iz.... I dont think it will affect you TTC but I have wondered about cervix dilation during labour - I had pretty much none and had to be induced, and ended up with a c/s. I know others who have had the same surgery though and have had no trouble so I guess it varies.
Not a huge help sorry!

No, I don't think so. I had CIN3, had a colposcopy, biopsy and cells from my cervix removed on 2 occasions. The only issue they thought it might cause is imcompetent cervix, but it never did either.
As long as you are still have regular smears (I still have to have mine 6 monthly) and you are keeping on top of it, it shouldn't affect that side of things.
Good luck :)
