hi nicole
my first IUI was pretty straight forward. the injections aren't bad at all! feel free to ask as many questions as you want hun!
Thanks so much for all your advise ladies, it is greatly appreciated.
DH did our first injection tonight, and I must say it was not that bad at all.
He asked me if I wanted to know when he was going to jab me....at this point I bit my tongue and said nothing....as I was trying not to think about it.
Funny thing is my left foot feels a little numb but don't know if it has anything to do with the injection.
I am trying to keep positive, but also agree with you Salt that this first cycle is a bit of an experiment.
If I have any other questions I thank you in advance for all your advice :D
Hiya Nicole s,
So lovey, i am in this boat with you. I have been doing timed intercourse for three cycles now but this is my first month doing IUI. I'm having my second ultrasound tommorow and i'm onto about my eighth injection. He doubled my dose this month so my response has been a lot better. I'm extremely nervous about the procedure itself. I hate pap smears and apparently its very similar. The speculum makes me feel sick. Given that i have had a good response with the drugs i worry that it might be a multiple birth when i'd prefer just one. So I'm very scared. Also i work long days on thursday and Friday so god knows how i'm going to find the time to get it done. This is my first week in a new job so i cant take any time off.:doh:This is all such a juggling act. Keen to hear how your journey is going. Considering we are in the same place at the same time i can keep you posted.
All the best for every success.
Hi Pollyanna, how great is it to be going through the same thing with someone else....it's a great comfort to know we are not alone :D
What is your current dosage, and did you have any side effects?
The clinic said to me yesterday that they don't want more than two follicles and would much prefer one healthy pregnancy... twins would be fun, even though at this stage one little bubba would be my dream.
As for work, do you have an understanding boss who you can explain your situation too.
Hey babe,
I'm now on 75.Previously it was 37.5. So this is my first month at the higher dose.Havent noticed the side effects other than being very crabby. Doctor said that that was pretty normal though. I noticed after about my 7th injection "lookout". Crabby crabby person. Worse than pmt! So todays ultrasound found 3 follicles but they like them to be bigger than they are now. So i keep going with the gonal f for now.Today is day 8 of injections. I have to go back for another ultrasound at 7.30 on friday morning before work. Hoo thats one long day.Apparently my fs does things a little differently by starting the gonal f on day 6 of the cycle wheras most fs do day 3 . so melb ivf said if this cycle is uneventful(fingers crossed that it is a success),then we would start day 3 next time. I hope you are going well with your injections and are experiencing few if any side effects. Do you know when you have your ultrasound?
Hey there, 2nd injection down....7 to go.
Not to sure when my first ultrasound will be, but thinking it should be early next week. How you feeling after your ultrasound?
I'm also on a dosage of 75...no side effects yet.
Hello ladies, just wondering how you are both going with the injections and ultrasounds etc. Dh and i went to IVF Australia today and we will be starting IUI hopefully within the next two weeks. They decided to test DH sperm again to make sure enough of it is good for IUI. We are actually very excited about the whole process and cant wait to start. Id love to hear your progress.
Hi Paula, so far so good with the injections....nothing much to it :D
I have my first blood test tomorrow to see how my body is responding to the dosage, other than that no real side effects.
Which clinic are you going to?
Hello ladies
Thanks for your support.
Nicole, i am at IVF Australia with Prof Chapman.
Hi Ladies,
I too am about to embark on my first cycle of IUI. Injections start tomorrow. My DH and I are very excited, although I am a little worried about the effects of the injections on my moods - I'm a cranky you know what on the best of days!!!
Looking forward to sharing stories with you.
Belinda
Hey Belinda, I too was a little worried about the side effects...but so far nothing at all.
The best thing you can do is carry on with your normal day to day....well that's what I've been doing so far and I feel great :D
Good luck with your first IUI cycle.
Hi girls,
boy there are so many of us doing iui this cycle. It is so intersting to see how we are all having the same treatment but its all a little different. I went to my clinic this morning before work(7.30) and had my 3rd ultrasound for the month. Geez my body takes its time to grow these damn follicles. They still are too small being only 13mm. they think i will be 16mm any day though. That is usually at the point that the body will ovulate and release the egg. So i continue with the gonal f. Now day 12 of injections. I've had my blood test. 7 holes later. My body dosent cooperate overly well with giving blood. So today the clinic gave me this urine test thing i have to do seratec. I use fmu and see if i get a positive. if i do i call the clinic straight away as it means i will ovulate within the next 24 hours. Then i/we have to go in to do the transfer. They said they wash and test dp's sperm then and let us know the count.Getting really, nervous, anxious and excited all at once:pray:
by the way i'm watching everyones progress,so saltprincess, nicole and paula and belinda, i wish you all of the very best with your iui. Wouldnt it be wonderful if we could all get pregnant first iui cycle.I think it would be the best. So fingers crossed
ditto on the :crossfingers:.....it would be great!!
I've got my first blood test tomorrow so I am a little nervous, but it would be good to hear how the injections are reacting to my body.
Truly the blood test is nothing to worry about Nicole. I don't have veins and it took them 7 times to find a vein. i know that sounds really awful. But it is such a state of mind thing. I am able to put myself in a meditative state and not even feel anything. The nurses didnt believe it. They were like girl you are so calm you don't even flinch. I just said well i know that you have to get the blood out ,so i just sit here till you get it. This is while one nurse was jabbing an arm each! I am so hoping that i can get pregnant as i'm dying to learn about hypnobirthing. They were apologising so much, and i couldnt apologise enough for being such a difficult patient. So just get your self in that really calm headspace. Close your eyes and take deep slow breaths and imagine a place or color that soothes you. You'll get through it no problem. Says me who is still packing about IUI,hehehehe-I'm funny. good luck with it.
Thanks for the advice....it all went well :D
I must have been at the clinic for no more than 5 min....the vein was perfectly playing it's part.
I already got a call from the clinic and they are really happy with my result.
The reading was over 1000+, and would like me to go in tomorrow morning for a scan and another blood test...yuck!!!!!!
If that all goes well the IUI will be lunch time Monday.
I can't believe we are already here, I am soooo happy that my body is responding and if it doesn't work this time at least I know my body works well for next time....:crossfingers: there is no next time
I love reading all your stories, it just gets me more and more excited. Cant wait to get started!
