Steelcraft Strider?

Just wondering how many of you ladies have the Strider and what you think of it. I have been comparing prams for a while and DF and I just love the pram, but, part of me thinks ( gosh this is going to make me sound up myself ) but I am a big believer in you get what you pay for, and it just seems so cheap compared to others we have looked at.
Also, is it ok to put bub's in the pram without the bassinette? I have just read a few reviews that say the bassinette was just a waste of money cause they never used it.
Another thing :rolleyes:, are the wheels ok, cause everyone of the demos that I have pushed in the stores seem a bit wobbly?

I've got the Strider and I've been happy with it. Haven't had a problem with wobby wheels. DP loves it because it's so easy to fold and put in the car. I also love the fact that I can have DD facing me or facing out and it's so easy to lift it on and off.

I did buy the bassinette though you can probably go without and use the recline position (but it's not a full recline). However, the bassinette was REALLY useful for day sleeps and we used that instead of buying a portacot when we were away. Infact, I used the bassinette for night sleeps too at home until DD was six months old as an alternative to her cradle.

But, if I had my time again, I may go straight to a stroller (with a fully recline position) because unless you use it for long walks every day then I'm not sure a pram is necessary. I was INTENDING to do a lot of walking but I've had a dodgy pelvis so haven't been able to walk much.

I have a thread I will link for you HERE about my Strider story! Needless to say other than the fact that we loved being able to see bubby facing us, especially early on, there were more negatives than positives for us.... My DH in his infinite wisdom, also said the words"We won't need a toddler seat for ages " When I wanted to get the P & T's.... I've now sold the Strider and will be getting a p & T's when this bub arrives!

ETA- We didn't get the bassinet and pram until she was about 2 mths old but we only used the bassinet once when we went to a wedding and she had to go to sleep in it, other than that it was never used in the pram. If I was going to do it again, and wasn't having 2 so close together I would get the Maclaren Techno(I think) that fully reclines..... I have the Quest which is from 3 mths and I love it!!! You definately get what you pay for with a Maclaren as they are expensive but oh so worth it!

fionas - Oh thanks so much for the reply, buying a pram is such a big decision. I will buy the 4 wheeler I think. I am wondering if the wobbly wheels were because the pram hadn't been put together properly.

Tanstar - Thanks for putting that link in there. Good to see some more posts about it. The wheels definately worry me and I think it would be much better if they were the pump up style. LOL about u not needing the toddler seat, I have heard that a new stider is about to be released with an attachable toddler seat. you'd think they would have thought about this ealier. I like the emmaljunga's but my DF doesn't, so I think we will be sticking to the strider.

We bought the Strider (4 wheeler) and even though haven't used it with bubs yet, I really like it. I've been wheeling it around the house in practice LOL. It's easy to

manoeuvre and fold up. DP & I got the bassinette attachment as well because I wasn't comfortable that the main seat doesn't fully recline. Even if we only use the bassinette for a couple of months I think it is worth the extra $130 and I also figured it would be good for bubs to sleep in when out and about or even at home.

I also like how you can turn the seat around so bubs can be facing you or facing away. I liked this option over some of the prams where the handle moves back and forward and risk bubs fingers getting caught.

With the wheels, I actually prefer the solid ones over the pump up ones. All my friends which pump up wheels have complained about how they are always pumping up the wheels.

When we were looking at prams/strollers in the stores I noticed that ALOT of them had the problem of wobbly wheels. Since most of them can be detached, I think they just don't get put back on properly when people try them out in the shop.
