Baby stopped kicking - 18 weeks

Hi all,

I just wanted to put a post up, because this week, no matter how hard I searched, I couldn't find anything to help ease my panic.

I am somewhere between 18 and 19 weeks (depending on who is interpreting the scan!) and have felt baby fluttering around for the last week or so. Two days ago, s/he stopped. It was pretty often up until then, a fluttering above my left side of my pubic bone. As I was on holidays, and there was no dr in sight, I fretted for 2 days, constantly poking my belly (DH thinks the baby is going to whack me whe s/he gets out), till finally, last night, I got a walloping kick, Since then, all back to normal.

As I said, I just wanted to put my experience up, so that if it happens to anyone else, they may get a bit of reassurance.

My midwife told me to drink something really cold to encourage bubba to move, It's a horrible feeling so go and get it checked out when you can to ease your mind but I'm sure all is OK:hug:

Gald you felt bub on the move again, my little man stopped for a while, it was when it was very hot here, I was given the same advice as blizz to drink something cold and sure enough he started. MY SIL was told to drink as she was dehydrated and bubs dont move as much when you are dehyrated apparently.

It is true that a cold drink will often cause your baby to move. It is also true that if you are dehydrated then baby?s movements will be less. Also at 19 weeks your baby is still quite small and may well have been moving, but these movements could have been too small for you to feel.

A cold drink usually works for me too or a cold hand on my belly (brrrr hehe)

yeah they told me to have something sugary too.

The same happened me Im 19 weeks and 1 day by my dates 18 weeks and 4 days by scan but last week i was feeling regular little kicks low down on my left side then nothing for nearly a week then the last two days im feeling movement it did worry me even though this is my 4th baby and i remember the others doing the same but i was thinking of seeing if i could get a scan but thankfully baby is moving nicely again :D

I'm glad I found your post, Treegal! I've been having the same worries. I've tried cold drinks and sugary things, paying attention when I'm lying down or relaxing but nada for the past few days after getting some good obvious flicks last week and lots of fluttering movement the week before. I do have a doppler (hired it at 13 weeks) and fortunately I've been able to find a heartbeat, otherwise I'd be beside myself by now. I'm just worrying that the baby isn't developing properly. Not long until my appointment for the anomaly scan (Monday) but I think I'll ring my ob anyway today.
I've been awake since 4am worrying about it - and with a painful aching right arm! :rolleyes:

Just a bit of an update - at 20ish weeks, our girl is trying to become a soccer player! The kicking is pretty regular, and almost guaranteed as soon as I have finished eating. I'm glad this post has helped others.

I will be 20 week's tomorrow (my ticker is 1 daqy out lol). So far i have experienced alot of pressure and flutters, but i can't say i have actually felt the baby kick. 2 days ago it was moving like you wouldn't believe, but since then, i have only had minor little flutters. I go for my scan on the 29th of April, so i an hoping and wishing that everything is fine.

My Ds didnt kick for week when i was pregnant with him.. then he wouldnt stop..

Cold lemonade worked for me with DS...

poor baby i was always swigging the lemonade to get a movement (paranoid) HA!

It is very reassuring reading all your posts - thanks! I actually haven't felt anything for 24 hours and am a bit panicked. :(:( I'm 22 weeks, and for the last few weeks I have felt movement every day and night and now nothing. How long do you wait before seeing someone? I don't have a doppler and my obs is really hard to get into - and my next appointment isn't for 3 weeks. I was a bit emotional last night and had quite a teary - so I hope I haven't stressed the poor bubba out!

24 hours is ok. To get your baby to move try drinking a glass something sweet and cold like OJ. Drink it down quickly and within a few minutes you should feel your baby move.

I find that cold milk makes my little bubba kick like no tomorrow...

and Rufalina, will give all of the above a go!

I know this is naughty, but I find coffee wakes my little one up ... only problem is getting the poor bubs back to sleep!! :doh:

I know I'm a couple of weeks further along, but even sometimes eating something sweet, like a chocolate biscuit or cinnamon toast does the trick too!
