Hemorrhoids at 28 weeks
I was wondering how may of you had this yukky one. I am hating going to the loo, as it is so painful. I told my obs and she said apart from creme and lots of water and a bit of fiber thats all you can do! Any cure or suggestions. I am at my wits end. :(

I posted about this only a couple of weeks ago in the Pregnancy General Discussion forums. I was told the same thing by my doc but have since found that I am more regular when I don't take my iron tabs and things are moving easier/less painfully, now that I am taking less fibre (I only mix some in with dinner or muffins instead of that as well as drinking metamucil once a day).
People had some really helpful suggestions for external piles on that thread if you want to check it out. For me it is an internal problem....... the reason they don't recommend the use of many creams is because they are vitamin A based and not good for bubs.

i just had a visit with my GP bout this... AFter getting them from the labour with DS they have come back with avengence.. He suggested the usual FIBRE increase but also said the cream was safe- anusol i think... Great name:cryinglaugh: there is a tube you can put on the end to insert a little into the anus because they start inside. then you put the cream around where the sore swollen part is... Also the naturopath at the chemist suggested Vitamin B6 1/4 of a tablet 3 times a day (to add well moisture to the stool) Also as the iron tabs were making me worse she said to eat plenty of oranges or drink OJ or better take Vitamin c tabs with the multi vitamins to help absorb the iron into the body better.. Getting better slowly but GP said once you have them they always come back so its something you have to keep on top of... Good luck

Ok I am in agony at the moment. Sitting is like stabbing me in the b. I have stronger med that is safe for baby that I have used with other preg. I have only just started to use iron tabs and I think that is what has made it more severe. I will read Kelly's link to see how it might help. I just wonted to winge...sorry.

So I have just read the link. Are all these safe while preg or should I steer clear of some of them. Just wondering about herbs and things.

Rose, I just wanted to make sure that you have definately checked with a 'general surgeon' that you have heomorroids (Sp?). I am only asking this because with my first pregnancy I was in agony with what I thought was hemorroids but after repeatedly seeing my GP because I was in so much pain and he finally referred me to a general surgeon and he looked at them and low and behold they weren't hemorroids. They were what you call hemotomas (sp?) a part of the hemorroid family but the hemorroid treatments do not work for them. I ended up having to have a local injection in both of them and they were cut and blood clots were removed from them. I have just returned from another trip to the surgeon today with my second pregnancy as they have come back and I feel great now. I just wanted to make sure you definately had hemorroids because I originally thought that was what mine were.
