Car Seats??
I have just been thinking about car seats now that bub #2 is on the way and was wondering for those with bubs close together what did you do re 2nd car seat?
DS will be 17 months when bubs is born and im not sure what to do, like do i just get a car seat the same/similar to the one DS uses or just get a capsule and when DS is old enough to go to another seat put baby in to his?
Can DS go into a different seat at 17 months?
Just looking for advice really.
Thankyou :)

Nina originally had the Safe n Sound Guardian, which is newborn -18kg. I am now using that for DD2 and have bought Nina a Safe n Sound Maxi Rider, which is suitable for 8 - 26kg. Both seats are fantastic.

I'm not sure what brand that DS was in - it was a red and black one, sorta sporty and I got it from Target.. lol....
He is now in a safe and sound maxi rider - and the new bub will have his red and black one as that goes from birth to around 18kg I think??
Maxi Riders are wayyy cool... he loves the armrests!!!

Another vote for the maxi rider.
Expensive but worth it. Don't know about WA but next year in NSW it's going to become law for children to be restained in an approved seat until they're 7 and not to sit in the front until 12 (due to airbags). We're going straight to the maxi rider because we know it is one of the few approved and therefore we won't have to change when the new laws come in.

Like Jodi, we bought a maxi rider for Jack - your DS should be able to go in that, I think the minimum weight is 12 kgs. I know of many others with a small gap who have bought a maxi rider for the older child. The reason is that it will last a long time as it can also be used as a booster seat when they are bigger, and it is one of the safest booster seats as you can an anti-submarining clip (goes between the legs to stop them slipping down).

Hi, I also went the Safe n sound Maxi rider, then upgraded to the advantage booster as the old maxi rider couldn't accept a h harness!
The new one's do and are well worth the money, mines been through two of my kiddies and now been passed on to my sister and is immaculate dispite all the use.
I think they're worth the money! 6mth's (11kg??)to 26kg? can't remember the exact weights but it's around that!

Maxi rider can go from 8 kg.

I would buy a new Maxi rider for your DS and your newborn can have what you already have got......Like Cally said Maxiriders can take from 8kgs - we have two in the back of our car, and when DD#3 gets old enough, we will be buying our third maxi rider....

I will have the same age gap, and am going to hire a capsule for the first 6 mths or so and keep Izzy in her seat (Safe N Sound Premier) and then I will get the maxi rider, and use the premier for bubby. Lots of people on here recommend the maxi rider. Good luck!

Thanks everyone :)
It looks like the Maxi Rider is the way to go! Where can i get them from? We dont have much option for baby stuff here so i will probably have to go out of town.

Most baby shops will have them, or you can get them over the internet. I ordered ours from pram warehouse, not sure what the postage would be for you though!
