Good but not so good
Well after posting the other day about my impending induction...I am back at home.....babyless. As far as she is still residing in my tummy! I went in at 2pm on Thursday and was given the Cervadil and left in the Maternity wards overnight to see if it would ripen my cervix enough and well...it didn't take. Not enough anyway.
So basically I was all set up for the Syntocin drip when the head doctor came to see me and recommended that I quit for now and go home and come back on Monday to see if my cervix has ripened anymore by then. Otherwise if I was to go ahead with the drip now, there was a good chance that it wouldn't work as my body wasn't responding and I would end up with an emergency c.section.
So sadly (or maybe not?) I am back at home. I had a reflexology treatment when I got back as if I can bring on labor myself I would much prefer it. So here we go back to stressing out all over again....... :(

Oh hunny poor thing. I do think it's the right thing to send you home  . These last few days are the worstest for waiting.
You liddle bubba will be here soon - you know us girls, we have to arrive late!

The only reason for the induction was the controlling Gestational Diabetes with Insulin, but the doc said that instead of going full steam ahead, lets give it a few more days before we jump in at the 'possible' deep end of a section. Which we really don't want to happen. So I can only pray and hope that it happens on it's own before then. Cuz otherwise it was a 1 in 2 chance of a section.
But if it doesn't happen before on it's own or on monday then it has to be what it has to be for baby's sake. But the longer you give it, the better the chance it can happen naturally....

YAAAYYYY!!!
Sorry, you probably think i'm mad, after all the anticipation and nerve-getting you've been through but...
I have a friend who is having her 3rd caesar later this year. Her first was an emergency c after a failed induction. They gave the gels, nothing much happened, they gave her the drip, nothing much happened, she was dilated to 1 so they broke her waters. 36 hours and no contractions later her temp went up. She had an infection. Bubs was born by emergency section with Strep B infection. Strep B can be treated and is often mild but for her little boy it was a tough road. He had a lung infection and was generally poorly for a few weeks.
The trauma of all that scared her so much (as well as her obesity and BP and scar issues (they didn't cut it very straight at the time for whatever reason) that she's had a reluctant elective section since and is planning her 3rd later this year.
Now, hers is a VERY VERY extreme case, but if only her Ob had said "ok, come back in a few days" she might have been saved all that heartache and her soon-to-be 3 surgeries. I am so so glad for you to have avoided that! :)
If the next time you go in, it still doesn't work, ask about a Foley's Catheter Induction - there are no drugs, it makes your body make its own dilating hormones and has had good results. Best of luck, i hope your birth is FABULOUS.

Good luck. Fingers crossed things can start on their own.

Cherii it must be frustrating for you  It sounds like you have a great Dr though who is happy to give it a bit more time to see it it can happen naturally.
I hope that your GD is alright over the weekend and all the best for your next checkup :crossfingers:

Hey Cherii,
I'm sure you've had loads of suggestions, but just figured I'd add my two cents worth... Acupuncture that is specifically aimed at induction has good success rates. You'd need to find someone who specialises as I don't think all acupuncturists perform it.
Good luck!

Definately try Actupuntcture
70% success rate after one treatment and 90% after 3!
worth a look at

I understand the frustration... you were expecting to meet your bubba... however, as you weren't responding, obviously your body and baby aren't ready yet. The doc sounds like a good one to say give it a few more days and see how it goes. I hope that it goes well for you and try not stress, take the time to relax as much as you can :D Reflexology is good and I think helps once your body is ready. I did it a bit.

Hi Cherii
I know of a good accupuncurist in Brisbane that has much success with inducing labour if you want his details.
How are your sugars? Are they well controlled? If so even waiting another week might make all the difference. 38w is quite early (as far as your body and baby are probably concerned) to be trying to force things if it's a "just in case" measure.
I had insulin dependent GD with my first bub so I know all about the "drill" you go through with it...it can be very hard to hold things off I know. Good luck.

Thank you ladies for the positive feedback.
I gave the reflexology a shot on the Friday when I got home from the hospital and have had family lovingly massage my feet over the weekend to relax me!! I am a little less scared about going in to hospital again for another try as I know what to expect this time around.
I know that regardless what works when I go back in, that I will be having my baby this time around. And that is a nice thought :)
