Question for some with medical experience

I have been meaning to ask this for ages but keep forgetting.

I was in hospital in March due to a stomach infection. I was given a lot of pain releif and anti nausea meds. One thing i was given though i have no idea what it was for and i'd like to know. i hope i explain this properly!

i don't know the name of it but it was pink and white. the white bit tasted kinda minty and made my mouth and throat go numb. The pink bit was kinda solid feeling.

Can anyone tell me what it was called and what it was for?

Was it a tablet or a lozenge?

It sounds like what we call a "pink lady" - a mix of gastrogel (minty flavoured reflux liquid) and lignocaine (topical anaesthetic / numbing liquid). We give it to people who we think may have reflux of an irritated ulcer / stomach problem. It stops the burning sensation and settles the stomach.

Makes sense, because when they discharged me they said i had a bad case of reflux :rolleyes: wasn't until later that i was diagnosed properly.

I don't think there is a medical term for it :dunno: It is just a mix of 2 medications that can often help with the pain and burning. Even the medical staff call it a pink lady.

Oh ok, it is just that the nurse that gave it to me rattled of some big medical term for it, which is why i couldnt remember what it was called.

Even on the med chart the doctor writes "pink lady"..hehe funny huh

It is usually just called a pink lady. It is a mix of xylocaine viscous and an antacid such as gastrogel
