My sister is currently 35 weeks pregnant with her first baby.
She has not had a GTT done.
Is it normal for her to have not had it done? I had it with all of my children (apart from Noah) and it was around the 28 week mark from memory.
So... is it normal for it to not be requested for some women? Should she enquire about having it done now or would it make no difference this far in?

Im not sure of the answer..i had it done with my 2 both at 28 weeks too
her midwife/doctor prob assessed her and seen that she didnt have any of the common signs of GD. Its not always done. Depends on the patient and doctor. Im only getting it done coz im a little overweight. HTH
By the time she got to doing the test, and getting the results back - bub's could be here!! If it is bad add a couple of days to do the 2 hour test and if necessary get into see the diabeties educator and then to start monitoring to see how the levels are.
If she is concerned about it and the possiblilty of a big bub's then maybe ask for an ultrasound.

I know I had mine with DS1 because he was big... and then with the others because DS1 was big (thanks DS1!!! lol)
My other sis had it with her 3 boys too.
My sis isn't too worried and now I'm not either... she isn't real big or showing any other signs of having GD so thats a good thing :)

It is very unusual for her not to have been tested. It's a standard test these days because it has become so common and it is impossible to detect without testing as there are no symptoms. All the ladies I've known who've had it had no idea that they had it until tested and all ended up with big bubs even with the strict diet. It's probably too late to be tested now though.
