Constipation pains?
For the past few Days, I have been constipated and I put that mostly down to the fact that I've taken panadeine for my migraines. I've been getting lower pelvic pain... very similar to ovulation pain and in the same area.. Just wondering if anybody has had a similar pain... its mainly on my left side and is very constant.. thanks

I went to the chemist yesterday as Ive been suffering constipation for the last couple of weeks & they were really helpful.
They said to eat heaps of fruit & vegies (avoid bananas), drink lots of water, orange juice or apple juice. And prunes if you can stomach them. Take a fibre suplement like metamucil (they make fibresure which is really good)
and they gave me some Coloxyl and said to take it for the next 3-5 days
As for abdomen & back pain, Ive been using heat packs

Kiwi Fruit with the skin on!
Just run it under water (warm is best) to soften it a little bit.
I was bad in pregnancy and tried metamucil and all sorts to not much effect but had these after DS's birth and by gosh they helped. My other suggestion would be to avoid dairy (when possible) - from memory (could be wrong) lactose is difficult to break down and can cause constipation too.

Ashlea is right about dairy. The stomach does find it hard to break down, its a bit of a lose lose though because it is the same with iron. We need calcium and iron and both make you quite constipated.
Coloxyl worked an absolute charm for me, just make sure you get the lower dosage one. The higher dose is not recommended for pregnant woman. Eat plenty of cabbage as well.
Remember that if you are increasing fibre into your diet to increase water intake too. If you don't then you will have really hard crumbly stools (TMI I know but it seemed like no matter how much water I drank just didnt help, which is where the coloxyl really worked)
It makes me laugh now because it seems like I was constipated for so long during my second trimester and now I have the opposite......

I've been suffering from this lately too and all I can say is, lots of water and lots of fruit. If you can stomach it, a cup of warm water in the mornings with a splash of lemon juice can help get things moving too. But I know some people can't drink warm water (it makes my mum retch, perhaps she's just an odd-bod! :D )
