Will I ovulate straight away after m/c?

I m/c on Saturday (at 5 and a half weeks) and DH and I would like to start TTC asap.

Will I ovulate in 14 days? I am still bleeding now (I guess it is still from m/c or is it the same as AF?) Isn't your usual AF the same as what is happening now? Just removing the lining as it is not needed? If that is the case, I would expect that I would ovulate in 14 days. :pray:

My hCG was 45 on Saturday and dr said that if I was still preggo it should be in the thousands. Does that mean that my hCG is returning to zero quickly and I should be able to release an egg soon??

Why do some people say that you should wait a cycle? :wall: I am generally very fit and healthy - even gave up chocolate when TTC cause it has caffiene in it! And I exercise daily for 30-45 minutes. I was also taking folic acid since January, and went straight onto Balckmore Pregnancy and Breastfeeding 3 days after BFP (one day before AF would have been due).

They don't know why I m/c. 1st bleeding came at 6.30am on Satursday and scan was done at about 11am that day and they couldn't see any sign of a preg. All other results from blood work were good.

I also read on the net somewhere that you're more fertile, or more likely to fall immediately after a m/c? Any truth in that? Has anyone heard about that before?

Firstly, sorry for your loss.

As to whether you will ovulate - probably, but not a surety, depends on body signals.

why do people wait - well everyone has different opinions - personally I wait a cycle, and waited 2 after my D &C with 2nd m/c to ensure the lining was ready and strong enough to hold a little bubba. You can fall preg straight away, but again, I think it depends on your body - and whether you are emotionally ready to try again.

Re : being fertile - often it is said for 3 months after you are most fertile cos all new and shiny in there :)

No-one can tell you what to do, you do what you feel is right.

When we suffered our loss I had to wait a full cycle before I O'd again... So I suppose it depends.

Thanks for your replies. We have decided to wait a cycle as our doctor has suggested. I would really like to TTC now, but I gues a month or two out of a whole life time is not long to wait, so if that's the safest option, I guess we should do that. Can't wait!! :)

I don't really know. I know my miscarriage started on May 18 and ended on May 25 and it's now June 24 and I still have not had my AF visit me.

I've heard different doctors say different things about how long to wait after a miscarriage before trying again. The one cycle thing is almost purely for dating, it's easier to date a pregnancy if they know when your LMP was. I was also told 3 cycles and 6 cycles. Really, in my opinion, it's about your emotional health rather than your physical health (except when it's a late miscarriage). After my second miscarriage we decided not to wait and conceived immediately. My doctor didn't tell me off, and we dated the pregnancy by scan instead.

ETA: Yes I think your hcg is probably returning to 0 quite quickly, 45 is already pretty low. As for ovulation, it's impossible to know when that will happen. After my first miscarriage I didn't ovulate for months (but it was a late miscarriage so this is unlikely to happen to you), after my second miscarriage (8 weeks) I ovulated a day or two after I finished bleeding. Google fertility and you'll find heaps of ways to know when you're ovulating.

u answered the question i posted in two threads bout whether i could b ovulating cos i had D&C on thurs arvo but had to positive (strong positives!) OPKs last nite cos my temp rose above 37 which it doesnt unless im bout to ovulate!!
basically i was supposed to b 11wks 1day on wednesday but the scan said bub had died at 8wks 1day so in that 3wks my hcg levels returned to zero. so i guess it is possible im ovulating again! thanks alot for that :)

:hug:Thought I would answer my own question, in case any one else out there was wondering. I have now had 2 MCs in a row. The first one at 5.5 weeks, the 2nd one at 4wks 2 days. From the first MC, I did ovulate just as if nothing had happened. Cycle was perfectly normal straight up. Since my 2nd MC, I am only on day 8, and my temps seem a little high, but I am feeling normal, and confident that seeing I was only just preg, my cycle will again be normal this month.

Also after many people saying that you should wait a cycle (or more) for your body to get back to normal, I have been to see a fertility specialist and he said that there is no need to wait, it just depends how you are feeling emotionally.
