Hi
Can anyone recommend a good baby monitor? We will have to move the little guy out to his cot soon as he's getting too big for the bassinet.
Thanks,

hi marcellus
we have the 'tomy walkabout premier' and find it great.
hth :)
We have the angelcare movement and sound monitor.. you can get them just as sound as well.. excellent monitor no interference
The new model of the angelcare one.. The parent monitor only turns on when a sound is picked up.. so you don't have any of that staticy nooise..
We have a Tomy Walkabout one too - it is great and we have never had any problems with it.
It will depend on the distance you will have between the monitor and the receiver. We have been through 3 different monitors trying to find one that doesn't make that awful buzzing interference noise.
We tried the Angelcare monitor and a Childcare monitor with no success.
Our house is 2 storey and we also have wireless internet and our cordless phone was causing interference because it was on the same frequency. One of those two, can't remember which one, used to buzz louder when the microwave was going. We turned off the wireless internet and the phone and although it cut down the amount of interference, the 2 units were just too far apart (and obviously didn't have line of sight).
We then tried the Tomy monitor (it was a Winnie the Pooh Sleepy Friends one, bit tacky, but it was recommended by Choice magazine at the time) and the Tomy was the hands down winner, blessedly silent. And DS was very taken with the Winnie the Pooh nightlight in the end so I got over it!
(We gave the other monitors as gifts to friends having babies).
We have bought the new angel care moniter that came out start of june (have not used it yet as baby not here yet) its sound and movement and is aroound $280, but we also have wireless internet and cordless phones and the research that DH did on it said it wont be an issue.
We do not have a 2 story house though so good luck with it.
Thanks everyone for your replies
Will put these on the list for DH's shopping trip
Cheers,
I have the angelcare monitor - its great as it has 2 sensors that go under the mattress and assess whether baby is breathing or not as well as act as a one way walky talky! Great peace of mind. Having two sensors is worthwhile as the bigger your baby gets and starts to roll around the cot, the sensors can still pick up movement and theres no risk of a false alarm.
