Baby medicine
MOrning Everyone!
DD is teething at the moment and she has also gotten a blocked and runny nose cause of the teething. I've got nurofen for the teeth and dinatapp for the nose but dont know what ones to use!! Are they safe to be used at the same time or can only be used one at a time?
Thanks!
-
yeah, they can be used at the same time. nurofen should be given after a meal because it can upset their tummy
-
personally I would use 1 or the other, if you want to use dimetapp why not look at teething tablets for the teeth
I am not happy bout using nurofen with anything else as it is so strong IYKWIM!!!!
-
Also bear in mind that dimetapp is now not recommended for under 2s. There have been serious side-effects reported. So I would only use it as a last resort. Try fess nasal spray first and see how that goes.
-
oh i never realised that dinatapp is not recommended for under 2 year old!!
I just checked the bottle and it says that they are 'infant drops'.. is that they one that causes side-effects??!!
Also, how long can you keep medicine for and how do you store it?? I've been storing it in the fridge, not sure if this is right or not??!! And I've only had the nurofen for 2 months, dinatapp a bit longer..

On the bottles there should be a expiration date - usually written in mm/yy - and medications are good till the of that month. So if the date is 07/08, you could use it for the whole month of June this year, and then throw it out.
And they don't have to be stored in the fridge - just somewhere cool and out of the sunlight (usually in a cupboard, but don't keep any medications in your bathroom cupboard, because there is usually way too much humidity in the bathroom!

Poor Avaleigh :(
I have been using Nurofen for Oscar's teething and some drops for his nose. I forget what they are called but I can find them if you want V. They dry up his nose which is fantastic!!
-
Danielle,
I would love to know what drops you use for Oscar's nose!! Even tho we use the dinatapp it still is runny but she can breathe a little easier but if she sneezes - WATCH OUT!

V, the infant drops are made for under 2s. But the Government has just made them script only and they have been banned some places overseas. I have used them in the past and so have many others without anything bad happening, but you should be aware that they can cause problems including respitory distress and hallucinations. I think the drug companies are actually considering stopping making them.

I'd love to know what those drops are too Oshani!!

Drying nose drops sound fabulous! Zander has a shocking runny nose from his cold at the moment, so they would be great.
