Following on from Min and her Nonny, I thought it would be interesting to see what others call it. In our house we call it a pipe, I have no idea why either.
What do you call it and why (if you know)?

we called it a dummy too - but he gave it up when he was 6 mths so probably doesn't count cause it never underwent baby translation

I will have to listen for the golly, lol. It's funny how we come up with different names for things isn't it? My brothers children used to calla dummy a dodo :D
Whenever I hear the word 'golly' I think of spit LOL. As in "hacking up a golly" as some guys would call it!! EWWWWWWW!!! Yuck Yuck Yuck!!!!

Our DD calls it NINNY. Her cousin used to call it this.....dont ask me why, but we think its cute. Nickname is 'Nin'.........
We call it a dum-dum.
My step-sister calls it a "binky" (she's American) or "pacifier".
My friend's little girl used to call it a "Marmo" so the whole family ended up referring to it as a "Marmo". She is 2 now and says "dummy".
My Mum sometimes calls it a "Pipe".
Melinda - I had to laugh. We say "Hok up a gorby" instead of "Hack up a golly". Isn't it funny how one thing can be said so many ways ;)
LOL - I'm the worst for this. (explaination to follow)
I call it a 'Noong Noong' or plain old dummy. The Noong Noong thing is because of the 'noise' he makes when he uses it.
- I'm the worst, because I flatly refuse to let people teach my baby words like 'pussy cat' and 'Moo cow', yet I call the damn dummy a blipping 'Noong Noong'....I'm a bad, bad double standard mum...LOL
We call it a dummy (dum) boring hay!
Mary
