DS did all the textbook signs... flailing arms- very jerky movements, rubbing eyes, irritable, would not look directly act you etc!! He was quite easy to read!
When DS was younger the skin under his eyebrows used to go a little reddish - and then his eyes would go a bit red...
Now he just rubs his eyes and whinges and says "bed.." (Which actually sounds more like "bec" but we know what he means... )
At your bubs age, rubbing her eyes, losing what motor control she had (i.e. unable to grasp toys properly, arms waving about jerkily), crying with a long wailing note, blinking slowly, rolling her eyes when trying to focus, and she would go pale with dark circles under her eyes, which she still does now :)

DD gets grizzly, rubs her eyes, and chews her arm! (quite funny to watch :))
Yes she definately rubs her eyes! And does not grasp toys properly and waves them about uncontrollably!
DD's got a few and they've changed a bit over the months. When she really little it would be the vacant stare that was a bit of a giveaway but that was quite subtle. Then she went through a phase of sucking her thumb when she was tired which was fantastic in terms of being able to spot it.
Now, at 10 months, she's got a combo of the vacant stare again OR getting a bit manic with her toys and wanting to play with everything at the same time. That one's a bit deceptive because if you didn't know her, you'd say she was full of beans and not at all ready for bed.
