Numb and tingling leg after c-section

I had a c-section with a spinal block on the 20th of June, so 2 weeks ago and I still have a numb tingling leg on my right side. It took longer for the anthesthetic to wear off on that leg but it still hasnt gone away. I have rung the pain management people and they said to give it another week as sometimes they can take awhile to wear off, however it is rare.

Has anyone ever had this happen before and if so what was the outcome?

I little worried about it and hope it isnt permanent as im a dancer and it actually hurts to point that toe. Would be ashame to give up something I love so dearly :(

I didnt have a c/s but I did have a numb/tingling leg. It did go away after about 8 weeks - it was a trapped nerve that Pip squashed during the birth. Mine was really annoying - I couldn't walk on it (ie it take weight) for a couple of days after birth. rather annoying.

I got DH to massage it a bit - talking to my chiro, he thought accupuncture would have helped it return to normal faster.

My friend had to have an emergency section with a spinal and she had tingling in her left leg for 10 months after the birth. She still (30 months later) has numbness but it's just the skin at the top/front of her thigh, and the leg works properly again. Her anaesthatist said it was a very rare outcome and that it might have been nerve damage caused by the pregnancy rather than the spinal. She's a horse-rider so it was tough for her too but it did come back eventually.

Wow 10 months! Thats a long time. Now that both of you mentioned that it was or could have been damaged by something else rather than the c-section gets me thinking that it could be maybe the same sorta thing. Adam was really hurting my hip and lower back before he cam out so maybe its after effect of that. I still have a sore spot there now so maybe its something to look into. I hope it goes away soon as its very annoying.

I had a vaginal birth on 14/7/08 with an epidural. I now have tingling and numbness in my left thigh, about 10cms above my knee and on the outer part of my leg.
It is not painful as such. I do find that it hurts to initially take weight on that leg and it sometimes feels like i have something digging/stabbing me in the muscle. The numbness is actually only skin deep though. I can feel my leg and can use it, but the surface of my thigh feels like your cheek would if you had visited the dentist and had a filling... Hard to explain.

Today is 2 weeks and I hope that this feeling goes away - I too would be interested in hearing of other peoples experiences.

I don't think that it has anything to do with pinched nerves.. I think that mine is a direct result of the epi.

I had a general for my last c/s (I had one for all of them) and I still wkae up with a tingling in my right leg from my hip to my knee. Mateauz is now almost 7 months old Its bloody annoying and ive put it down to having my nerves cut to many times through all my c/s.
