SCARED! Period Pains.
Hello ladies,
2 days ago I found out I was pregnant - woohoo! However now I am filled with this sense of great fear. I have been experiencing period pains for at least 7 days. They are increasing a little. There has been no bleeding or any other issues. This fear is compounded with the fact that my husband is so scared we will miscarry that he is trying not to be happy or excited about it until after the 3 months.
Am I worrying too much about the (period pain like) cramping I am experiencing? What should I do about it? have you also experienced this and did it lead to miscarriage? or a normal pregnancy?
Thankyou all in advance!
Pregy E..

Its very common to get AF cramps around the time your AF would have been due and all through the first trimester...it means your uterus is stretching and getting ready for bubs.....some people even get spotting which is why some people dont know they are pregnant for ages - they mistake AF for spotting
Basically, no AF is all good. Go to yr Dr and get a b/t and see if they will do another two/three days later. If your pregnancy hormone hcg is rising (roughly should doubt in that time) then that's also all good
Good luck

Hun - in the beginning of pregnancy, the uterus is beginning to grow to make room for your baby - when the uterus grows you get crampy "growing pains". Don't stress!
Unless it's heavy cramping accompanied by bleeding I wouldn't worry too much, all is completely normal. I would never have suspected I was pregnant until I realised I thought AF was coming for at least ten days due to cramps.
Congratulations & Welcome to BB!

yep i got them and now my DD is almost 2 years old. its normal.

How long do they normally last? days, weeks, months?
PS: Thanks for all your replies. I am starting to feel much more at ease :)

Changes with everyone. Some people may not get them at all; I got them really bad at 28 weeks - which is when i finally ballooned and started showing! I think the first lot only lasted until 7 weeks at the latest.

i think i got mine on and off during first trimester and then third trimester. during the early stages i used to go to the bathroom expecting there to be blood cause it felt wet as well as the cramps (cause of all that preg CM) but it was all good.
if you get pain accompanied by bleeding then i would go see the gp though.

I had the period type pains all through my pregnancy.
I wouldnt worry too much about it, like a PP has stated, its just the uterus contracting up to accomodate the growing bub.
Congratulations :)

I agree with the other girls ... normal :)
I did not notice any cramping with my first pg, but I did have a "period" while pg. I thought I was about 6 weeks pg, turned out I was already 9 weeks :o Was very strange to me, I read up on it and what Maybe Baby explained is probably what happend to me.
With this one .. I did feel some streaching, like AF cramping. Still feel some cramping from time to time.
Goodluck with the pregnacy .. lots of health and happiness\

I had af type cramps around 5 weeks (for a few days) with this pg. I was worried because I've had 2 x early m/c before but yesterday I had my NT scan and bub is doing really well. I wouldn't be worried at all. I think it is just bub settling in nice and snug!
Good luck & enjoy your pregnancy.

Why I am worrying!
This is why I am worrying - I just read this article at Miscarriage help and advice
And I quote: 'What are the symptoms of miscarriage?
If you notice any unusual back pain or abdominal pain which feels similar to a menstrual cramp, this may be an indication. Other symptoms are bleeding, pink or grey coloured mucus, contractions which occur at regular intervals or any clots or unusual tissues passing from the vagina. If you are experiencing any of these, they may be warning signs you may be about to miscarry, call your doctor and rest as soon as you can to minimize the risk.'
-
i guess if you experience a combination of the above symptoms or are worried a trip to the doctors might set your mind at ease. dont worry, i remember having the same worries when i was pregnant first time round. i think it natural to worry slightly but please try not to stress out. enjoy your pregnancy and what will be will be. :-)

Aww hun, your pg, your cramps might be a bit different or unusual than normal AF cramps.
Do you have any bleeding, or any "unusual tissues passing"?? I know that I always thought that if you are pg your CM is suppose to be minimal, but with this pg it was not. *TMI* I had a slight watery discharge, more that I would normaly have, but it was clear.
Like the girls said, if you are still worried .. let the dr do some bt's and put your mind at ease.
Hun, by fretting you are going to work yourself into some very tight knots. Take a deep breath and TRY and relax, ok??

With my first pregnancy, I had nasty period pains when I was around 5 or 6 weeks pregnant. It got to the point that I was pretty sure I was going to miscarry. Everything was fine though, I didn't have any problems with my pregnancy after that. Well, except for a couple of episodes of spotting, but that was later on, and that also turned out to be fine. I know it's hard not to worry. I hope the pain goes away for you soon. Hugs.
