Nasty pathology woman
I had such a horrible experience and I have to vent.
Today I had to walk down to the pathology lab for my GD test, because my husband has the car and it was only a 1/2 hour walk ... but it was raining this morning so I had a narrow window of opportunity to make the walk without getting wet.
I got down there at 12:30 and the woman was seriously peed off because I was going to cut her lunch break.
She huffed and sighed at me for an hour while I was sitting waiting for the test, and then she wanted to get my blood samples taken as quickly as possible, so she raced through it and the needle actually hurt me because she was FAR from gentle.
Then she slapped a Band Aid on my arm and kicked me out. She had her bag over her shoulder and was out the door before I was.
I was so upset and then I had to walk home again and I didn't even know if that amount of exercise was OK or not, because no one told me what the after effects of the glucose dose would be. The pathology b**ch hardly said anything to me at all, except griping that I was there during her lunch break.
 :crying:

Poor u thats awful, you should ring the clinic and complain to the manager. They really shouldn't treat people like that, and should always give aftercare advice, particularly to pregnany women.
Big hugs to you
-
yeh i agree. call the manager there and make a complaint. no one should ever be treated like that!
-
Definately call or write a letter of complaint hun. That is disgusting to be treated like that, especially for something as potentially horrible and nauseating as the GD test....
-
out your complaint in writing - and don't send it to local collection centre - send it to their management team. a complaint in writing has to be addressed, while a phone call can see you being "placated" and fobbed off
any BT can leave you woozy - but the GD test is especially bad as, if you have problems with it, you can end up having severe hypo's after such a sugar load - and you should have been told that
-
I want to complain. So you recommend that if it was XXX Pathology, with collection centres all over australia, I should write to the head office not the collection centre.
I was wondering about that, because when I left there was no one around to even talk to, and then I thought "they'll probably just ignore me, anyway."
-
yeah, find a contact address for their main labs and forward it there - it should be dealt with more effectively that way...

thanks everyone. It's nice to know that I'm not being unreasonable expecting better medical care.
