My DD is almost 7 months old and is a real velcro baby! I love her so much and spend lots of quality time with her, we love lots of cuddles.
However, she won't let me out of her sight. Even if I get up off the floor to walk 10 metres for a second to grab something from the kitchen, she'll scream and cry and tears will be streaming down her face :rolleyes:
If you dealt with this with your baby, when did they grow out of it? Am I doing anything wrong by running back to her?

I think you'll find that this is just a stage (starts from around 6-8 months, if I remember correctly!). It's good because it means your bubs understands something new - distance, and doesn't want to be separated from you. I don't think you're doing anything wrong by going back to her at all. I would still try to do things on your own so that she begins to understand that she can be without you- some time she will grow out of it and let you go. I'm not sure how long it will last- depends on the child!

Star, thanks so much. She loves being with her Dad too, doesn't miss me much at all actually when she is with him. I love her being with me so much but she is 11kgs and gets so heavy sometimes :lol:
My DD did this and still does on occasion when shes feeling overly clingy. I talk to her as I'm walking away and tell her that everything is okay. Tell her what you are doing in the other room and that you will be back soon. Keep talking to her so that she at least has your voice to attach to ;)

I think I have the original Velcro baby LOL! DS2 started getting very clingy at 4 months of age and he is only starting to get less so now that he is nearly 9 months old. He would scream if I took a couple of steps away from him and I had to lug him everywhere!
I don't think it's wrong to run back to her. I posted about it a little while ago because my DH was always having a go at me for carrying DS everywhere. I read that the best thing for seperation anxiety is to just take your bub everywhere with you so they feel secure. I guess this is true because DS is heaps better now and getting better every day :)

My daughter went through this as well, it drove me crazy! It ended when she started crawling, at about 8 months. After that, she just wanted to explore! Now when I leave the room she crawls after me so its alright lol.

Mine aren't legit 'velcro babies' :P but have definitely had their days. Have you got any baby carriers? On my tough days I've used my Mei Tai (an asian style carrier that is just brilliant). You could chuck your daughter on your front or back and then you can get a few things done if you need. :) Just a thought.
nelle doyou find the mei tai better than a hab? can you use it with a newborn?

oh...and my ds is sooo velcro that i'm suprised he doesn't stick to things as he brushes past them
I've never used a HAB would you believe Rain! But I've used the MT since newborn, and he snuggles in so nicely. :)

2 year old has been a velcro baby since day 1 and still is! I love it (though it has cerytainly tested my patience at times!)
