What can I expect from first Obs appointment?

Well the thread title says it all, really! My first Obs appointment is in about 2.5hrs, what can I expect?

Lots of questions, I guess, from Dr and from me. But will there be any physical examination? Should I have tidied up down there?? :redface:

lol - not much hun. Mine was only about 15 mins and i was terribly stressed about being preg because of my mc's!

Write down your list of questions so that you walk away feeling confident in your ob.

if your going to the same hosp as me , expect nothing !!!!! except a long wait in what i call the "farm" so many pg mums and their kids and grannies and all sorts!!!

oh actually , your doing really well if you are in the consult room for more than 10mins :lol:

dont stress , just look after your self , maybe hiring a midwife/doula will help answer your worries :)

I was 10 weeks at my 1st obs appointment - pretty standard time. I was asked about previous pregnancies or children. She took my BP, heart rate and sent me for some blood and urine tests. Also she did a viability scan so we could see the bub and take measurements to comfime how far along i was. Basically she asked how i was feeling and explained about having an NT scan and future appointments.

I really didnt have any questions at that stage because she went over everything before i could even ask :) my appointment went for about 30mins.

gee , both times i was over 22 weeks before i saw an OB !! you are lucky
