Baby Hip-carrier: Anyone used one?

Has anyone got a dedicated hip baby carrier?

I'm an avid baby wearer and my DS has lived in a Hug-a-Bub and now an Ergo on a daily basis. However, around the house when I'm flitting between small tasks and he wants to be carried off and on, but not for a long time (ie NOT in the Ergo), I'm considering a hip carrier that sits on your hips like a bum-bag and helps you not stand with your hip jutting out (bad for your back!)

I've come accross 2 types: the Easyrider and the HippyChic seat. Has anyone used these or another type? Do you recommend them?

(I also have a ring sling, which I know people use for hip carrying, however I have neck/shoulder issues and anything that presses on 1 shoulder causes me too much pain - even weight distribution is better for me)

i haven't used the hip one but do use a ring sling for hip carrying just wanted to add that the sling should go completely over your shoulder actually more like upper arm and the cloth spread right out, then it distributes the weight through your thoracic back not lumbar and definately not neck/shoulder. i see lots of people wearing them incorrectly which no doubt would cause lots of neck pain. just thought i'd mention it to see if this was the case for you

What about the Scootababy? That's a great hip carrier. I know you've already been given some advice about it ;) so I won't repeat.

There are many different shoulder styles for ring slings and what suits one person may not suit another. Gathered shoulders (like Bear Hug Baby, Sakura Bloom) are commonly spread over the upper arm and are generally much wider than most other shoulder styles. If you are narrow shouldered then a different shoulder style (eg: pleated) might suit you better. What sort of ring sling do you have?

Beckles, I have 3 side slings - 2 gathered ring slings (one by Bear Hug and the other the same), and a padded mesh one (Babyrock). The ring slings come over my shoulder and don't touch my neck, but it's just me - my shoulders/neck are too sensitive to the constant pressure - for years I couldn't even wear halternecks or aprons! The best carriers I've found have been the HAB and the Ergo (but even then, I have bad days). At least they are more even!

Suse, I'm looking a bit more at the Scootababy - however, it could cause the same problems as I've experienced with the Ergo in "hip" mode. As great as it looks, it also doesn't meet my need for really quick ups and downs.

Rufalina, I have tried the Ergo as a hip carrier and it is too painful for my neck/shoulders. I've seen some people use it that way, but it just doesn't suit me :(
