Morning,
I am heading off on a weeks holiday tomorrow but we are driving (to Vall Beach - near Coffs Harbour) and the last time we went the roads were SHOCKING and bumpy - we were however in an OLD VW with zero suspension -all tho this time we are traveling in our new beetle so thats better.
My question is - will bumpy roads and an 8 hr drive for 2 days do any harm to bubs??
I am planning on sitting on a few pillows to act as shock absorbers - anything else that ppl would recomend??

I don't think the bumps will cause harm to bubs bit might make you a bit sore if they are too rough.
I've done a long road trips in an EK holden at 32 weeks when PG with Caleb and this PG at 16 weeks so I fully understand your apprehension about lack of suspension!
The pillow might help but I think regular breaks to stretch out would be better. Lucky the petrol tanks are reasonably small ;)

I was freaking out as I have read all the things about if you want to bring on labour go for a drive on a bumpy road and all that - certainly didnt want to bring on labour at 22 weeks!!
Ill make myself a little cocoon and I will certainly be stopping for a million wee breaks anyhow!!

I think that in terms of bringing on labour that it needs to be going to happen and the cervix soft and all that. Like DTD too ;)
KG don't worry too much, it's going to end up being uncomfy for you, but bub is safe in there :) Oh,a and it takes a whole lot more to bring on bub than a bumpy car ride (believe me, I've been trying!!!!!!!! :cryinglaugh:)

Hey Kate,
Dh decided to take me on a 4wd trip while I was about 27 weeks pg with dd.She was fine- me on the other hand, I almost weed myself and was a bit uncomfy. Dh will take any opportunity to go on the rough roads, so a pillow is good and so is an empty bladder. Bubs will be fine- plenty of fluid in there to cushion it. Enjoy:)

I was in the back of a very bumpy ambulance in labour for 1.5 hrs!!! Fully dilated and holding off pushing.. and bub was fine! lol.
I also drove 1300 km when 8 weeks pregnant with #2

Glad to know bubs will be fine and dandy! Im not so confident that I will be! Lots of stops coming up for me!! We are staying in a motel 1/2 way so that will break it up = I hope that have a full size bath too! Im to big to fit in our 1/2 size bottom of shower bath!!!
