False Negative but missed period

First here's my background. I have an eleven month old daughter. I had three periods at the beginning of my pregnancy with her after the 2nd one I really thought something was different even though I was still having periods. I took a HPT in the morning and got a positive. Made my appt. with my obgyn for the 14 week mark but when I got the third period I went in for an ultrasound just to check on things she was good just implanting low. She was born healthy. Now the last time I had sex was April 10th (Sad that I know the actual date I know). I've had three periods all around 22 to 24 days apart. Now its been 31 days since the last one. I took a pregnancy test yesterday just cause i'm starting to have other symptoms (even though I'm a lucky ones with the very minor ones; only had nose bleeds, bloody gums, severe exhaustion, and swelling w my daughter and now again). However, the test came out negative. I took it late in the afternoon, but thought if I'm that far along it wouldn't matter. It was the Wal-Mart brand too. Is this a case of a false negative? Does anyone have any similar stories? I don't know how to feel about having another baby so soon, but also don't want to miss out on prenatal care if I am prego.

With your history and seeing that you are getting the same symptoms I'd say a trip to the doctor for a blood test is in order. If you are not keen to do that then just do another test tomorrow morning.

I'm not entirely sure about this but I have a feeling once u r very preg a tes won't come up positive, not sure though

I am with Jas - I think that (and dont quote me) after first trimester, your HCG levels even out, so good chance you may not show on a HPT at this stage. Get a BT done, good luck xx

Hi! I'm new to Belly Belly but have been reading through the forums alot! My husband and I have been TTC for about 6 months now and so far no luck. My periods were a bit all over the place for the first three months after getting off the pill (was on it for 5 years) but the last 3 months have been on time but only 3 days and light bleeding.

Was due on 15/08/2008 however it never showed up and normally have bad cramping about a week before hand - didn't have that either. So this afternoon I took a HPT (Crystal Clear) and got one very feint lue line and one strong blue line.

Has anyone had this problem? Should I take a line to be a line no matter how dark it is or not? I have another test to do and was going to take it tomorrow FMU but not sure I can wait that long!

Any advice??

dmt113 - I'd get into the doc top see what they say & maybe ask for bloot tests. They should be able to tell you for sure.

Cindyc - As you said, a line is a line. I think it should be BFN, but test again & see what happens with your FMU.

Well...tested again this morning and same thing - one striong blue line and one feint! Think I will just do bloods on Wednesday!

Well that's it - I'm Pregnant!!! 5 weeks!! Thanks everyone for your help and advise!!
