How to entertain 5 yo girl today

I have to take my 6 week old bub for a hearing test this afternoon. The booking confirmation asks not to bring siblings to the appointment if possible. All looked good until we got a call from my partner's ex saying she needs to drop DF's daughter off earlier than usual today. This of course means I'm going to have to take her with me.

Bubs must be asleep for the test so I guess that's why they don't want other kids there to distract the baby. Miss 5 finds it very hard to sit still and talks loudly and sings a lot. Having started schoold this year she can be a bit defiant at times so just asking her to keep quiet may not work (depends on her mood of course).

Obviously I'm going to have to keep her quiet somehow. The test itself only takes about 35 minutes but who knows how long it will take bubs to settle and of course we may have to wait a while too if they are running behind (quite likely I think).

Does anyone have any ideas of how I can keep her occupied quietly?

Ok you might have to bribe her with Macca's after the test but only if she is good...

Bring her a coloring book or better still take her to the newsagence and get her to pick out one for herself plus a mag like the new DORA one I know this keeps my 5 yr old happy tell her that as she is such a big girl now she will have to be very quite so that the dr can check buba and that she needs to be a big SCHOOL girl just like she is in class...

see if she will be a big girl a wait in the waiting room and " help" the resepioness( sp?) as long as the girls behind the desk is ok with it but tell them it couldnt be helped....

Yeah, those sticker books can keep them occupied for AGES, and a bit of bribery should help.

A lollypop in her mouth should keep her quiet and a sticker or activity book keep her preoccupied. If that fails you may need to resort to bribery for something that she wants to do afterwards.

We took some bits and pieces but left them in the car! It was pouring rain so there was no going back. She wasn't allowed in with us so she had to sit with the receptionist (poor thing, imagine trying to work with an talkative 5 yo for an hour and a half).
She came out with some lovely colouring in for her dad.

Have to go back for another test in 2 months so I hope we don't suddenly have to have her again.
