14 month old refuses to eat - take 2

i wrote the original post but something must have went wrong so im asking it.

My 14 month old refuses to let me feed him - he likes to do it himself, he usually does not to bad most of the time but lately he has taken to playing more than eating it.

Last night i made him some more finger type foods and he proceeded to chuck bit by bit to the dog (the dog is now outside at meals times) and he cacked :cryinglaugh: himself laughing everytime the dog ate what he ha dgiven him , he pretty much ended up giving him most of his dinner.

Im worried hes not gettign enough of what he needs - he still has 3 bottles a day with 100mls water 120 mls milk and 2 1/2 scoops of pediasure that why i feel i know hes at least getting some thingwith a little nutrients.

Is it just a phase he going through ?

and what other finger food suggestions can you give me forhim to eat.

I think it is a phase and he will eat when he is hungry. I know it is worrying but there is not a lot you can do other than provide him with tasty, easy to eat finger food and not to react when he feeds the dog (it is funny, but you are probably not laughing!). Keep doggy outside and even if he throws it on the ground any reaction from you (anger, laughter etc) will make it a game for him. what are you giving him to eat? Try toast fingers (spread with peanut paste or mashed banana or avocado etc), cheese cubes, pieces of fruit and slighly cooked vegies, hard boiled egg cut in quarters, crackers with topping that sticks (like with the toast), pikelets (add grated vegies to them), zuchini slice, fritatta, baked potato wedges, rissoles, healthy savoury muffins, weetbix spread with butter and topping etc There are other great recipes/food ideas in the breastfeeding, bottlefeeding and solids forum.

I actually had a hard time keeping myself from PMSL - it wasnt easy i did also film it on the video camera HA!

We're going through the same thing. DD is not eating much at all, no matter what I make her. So now I am making her one meal (for each mealtime) and not giving her anything else. And some snacks in between. No more bickies or junkish things if she hasn't had healthy food. I give her about 20mins to eat at the table and always with me eating too (always at the table for meals, snacks it depends on what she's having) and if she's just playing silly buggars we take it away and she goes to play. I feed her every 2 1/2-3hrs so she's not going to starve. I'm not giving her milk in the day time either anymore to try to increase her apetite, though she has 2 150-180ml bottles at night. As Deidre says, try not to stress or make a big deal if he doesn't eat much, he won't starve and it'll just make him realise that he has power with food if you do stress and fight with him.
He will eat when he needs to. HTH!

I did that today he was messing around with his breaky - we had bacon and eggs and i said to DF right when he starts messing around hes done.... ( he was lifting the bowl and tipping the food out )

i think he thinks its a bit fo a game...
