Pelvic Muscle Pain
I am having lower pelvic muscle pain at the moment - like I have stretched the muscles in the pelvis (front of my vag) and feels like I have strained my tummy muscles as well.
My lover mscles hiurt when I walk and when I get up and down form sitting - what could this be??
Anyone else had this? Should I be worried??
Cheers

Hi
I have the same but on the left front side - it is due to weight of bub etc and doesn't usually get better until bubs is born.
This is my 3rd so expected kinda that muscles aren't holding everything in nice and close like they used to - my midwife recommended wearing a tummy tube (from baby shops or Target) - and if it worsens get some proper tubing from a physio who deals with preg women.
Sorry, not good news there - heatpacks when you can and panadol/panadeine if it is really bad. Mine hasn't got to the point of using medication, just makes me really waddle!!!
Your description sounds the same, so unless you feel it is internal (being yur first bub I know how hard it is to differentiate sometimes) - chat to your carer about a physio referral and get some belly support to try and keep pelvis stable when moving around doing daily things.
Good luck!

Yes, I can help you!
I have the same, it's called pelvic symphisis (I think) or something like that lol I always forget!
Its from all of your ligaments softening during pregnancy.
I was told by my doctor, midwife & physio to limit my walking (not even allowed to do food shopping!), sleep with pillows between your legs & behind your back, don't stand on uneven surfaces, keep your legs together when getting in & out of car, try to put your feet up whenever you can.
It was also recomended that I buy a belly belt, you can also hire one from a physio but mine only cost $30 from babies galore. It's an elastic belt that you put around your hips/waste, then you have 2 wings that you pull out & stretch over your front which holds everything in that area tight. This should relieve your pain a bit for you, it does for me.
It's recomended you don't wear it for long periods of time as your muscles/ligaments will become weaker as they're not being made to work.
I totally understand your pain, mine started in April after a long day at the Easter Show (big mistake) & it's only gotten worse (sorry to say). Mine is the worst at night, I'm reduced to tears if I try to roll over in bed & first thing in the morning, the first few steps are near impossible.
For some people visiting a physio can help. I visited once but they were unable to help me, they may be able to help you though (should be free through your hospital).
I really hope yours improves for you, it can put a real downer on pregnancy which should be one of the best times in your life.
I hope I've been able to help.....

Hi. Yeah, I've had/got this.
Seperated pelvis something. There are a few other women on here with it.
I asked 2 doctors about it while pregnant, but wasn't even told what it was. I tried to tell one of the MCHNs but she didn't know about it, so I've put up with it. I knew nothing about it & didn't have BB to ask!
My DS is 5 months old & I am still suffering. It started at 4 - 5 months pregnant.
When you are pregnant your body releases a hormone called relaxin(I think?). It relaxes the ligaments & joints so your hips widen for bub to come through.
Normally it shouldn't be painful, but some womens pelvis's relax too much & their pelvis comes too far apart, so I think all the tissue & ligaments holding the pelvis together are straining & that causes the pain.
Al I was told at the time was to take panadol & take it easy.
Some things that are suggested are
when you roll over in bed, roll with both your knees together,
When you get in & out of a car or seat keep your knees together,
For labour, get a piece of string & widen your knees to as far as they will comfortably go, & cut the string to that length. When in labour, give it to the midwife & tell them you can't open your knees any further - It could make it worse.
The worst position to give birth in is on your back with your knees to your chest. (I wish I had've known that!!)
On the up side, it will make your labour easier as your hips are wider than they normally would be.
It can continue after birth. They say it should be better within 6 weeks, but it's not guaranteed.
It may or may not happen in your next pregnancy.
I am seeing a physio soon & have been told to do NO exercise til I've seen her. I really hope she can help, but I really don't know.
I hope it doesn't get any worse for you, but unfortunately it probably will.
HTH. Good luck with the rest of your pregnancy.
