Has anyone have any tips on relieving lower back pain?
Today my back has decided it will be a pain in the butt. It is really sore on the right side only and I can't seem to get to the spot to relieve it. DH will probably have to give it a massage but has anyone got any tips that may relieve it until then?
It's the first time I ahve really had it and has been this sore.

I had terrible back pain and used to get it professionally massaged all the time.
Maybe just have a warm bath or something?
I used to get in the shower and have the water going fairly hot and fast against my back for a few minutes... not too long as I didn't want to overheat bub or anything but it gave me some temporary relief. Also, what about putting a warm wheat pack on the spot for a little while?

When i went to see my midwife a few weeks ago she gave me wonderful tips that i find works. She told me to use two tennis balls, and make Dh move them in a circular motion at the same time up and down my back. I really hope you understand what i mean!! She also suggested if i need alot more pressure, to use two little spikey balls. But i find that the tennis balls are just wonderful. If Dh isnt home, she told me to stand with my back against the wall, with the two balls in individual socks, and move my back in a circular motion, with the balls positioned in the painful area. this works well also.
I also find that having a warm shower helps, and the heat packs. Also, sitting on a birthing ball helps alot too.

I had a similar lower back pain during my 1st pregnancy. It could be your siatic nerve (if it's shooting down your bum and leg) or just general lower pack pain due the babies position. I went and saw a MYOTHERAPIST and do with this pregnancy. god he's good! Or find someone who specialises in pregnancy massage, a professional is really the way to go.

Ow Back pains are just terrible, I had them right through my pregnancy, but found nothing that helped mine.. sorry I have no useful suggestions

Luckily it only lasted a couple of days. Maybe my tummy was having a growth spurt and it was pulling.
I have also been doing stretches that a physio that took one of our classes told us about. It has done wonders. NO MORE back pain so far.

Another thing that helped me when my back was bad was to get down on all fours for a short time, which is also good if you have a breech bub :) I see a Myotherapist now when I have bad headaches and neck pain and I find it brilliant too :)
At my Antenatal classes last night we were discussing this and the midwife said that one of the main reasons for the back ache is the way you sit she said during pregnancy you should not sit upright as such like you would normally she said if you do the baby will most likely lay against your spine so she said to keep you knees below your bum when sitting this encourages an arch in your back and therefor gets bubs to turn around or at least shift off your spine and releaves a % of the back ache hope this helps
