dvd player for the car?
just wondering if anyone has a portable dvd player for long car trips for their kiddies? am considering getting one from dealsdirect and am wanting to hear any tips or advice from anyone who already has one...
basically im wondering how you mount them onto the head rest - can you buy something separately to do this if it doesn't come with a mounting kit? also, with the noise of the car etc, is the volume from the dvd player fairly audible?? and finally, does sun glare etc interfere much with viewing the screen?
any advice would be greatly appreciated... i have a 16month old that is not too keen on car travel and just wondering if it is worth investing in one of these...
sorry wasn't sure where to post this!

I bought one from deals direct for my son last christmas for $99 and it's excellent. He mounts it on the headrest of the front seat with the elastic attachment on the case it comes in. Best thing we got I reckon, because it's got the headphones and keeps him from annoying my other two kids.

We got one from **** smiths about a year or so ago now..
It has 2 screens.. If possible get one with 2 screens. for later on
I used to think they were a load of rubbish but since using my SIL when we went on a 5 week trip I realised they are fine but IMO to be used within reason..
Ours is only in the car when we go away.. or if left in there not used..

awesome! awesome! awesome! we got ours over christmas (just a fairly cheap one from jb hi fi) as we were going on a 8hour car trip. DDs car seat is in the middle so we didnt attach it to the back of the head rest but just propped it on the centre console. we only use it for long car trips too.

I've just done a 5 hour trip with my DD and found the dvd player invaluable. Definately kept her amused when she was a bit grizzly and she also fell asleep easier. Didn't even matter too much what we put on, we had garfield as well as some cheap kids cartoons from crazy clarks. We had borrowed ours from in laws and are definately going to buy one ourselves before next trip.
Mounting is easy if it comes with a kit, just slings over seat back. We did have to move the seat forward a bit as DD loved to kick the flap hanging closest to her. If no kit then on the centre console bit should do the trick, just angle it towards her.
The sound was fine, I ended up sticking my ipod in so that I could listen to music while I drove instead of sounds from a movie I couldn't see.
As for the glare, I used a cloth nappy over the window beside her. Depends on which side the sun is coming in.
Good luck
