Anyone got a wooden highchair?

Hey guys,

We currently have 2 Peg Perego Prima Pappa's, and 1 steelcraft highchair (for 2 kids, so i have no idea why we have ended up with 3!). Anyway, i hate the way food always get stuck int the cracks of the lining, and underneath etc.

So i was thinking of selling them and getting a plain and simple wooden highchair (like my mother recommended to me in the beginning, but i wanted something comfy for the baby...now i want something easy to clean :lol:) I saw some on ebay (item # 360078305944).

• Can anyone tell me from constantly wiping the trays etc down, does the wood degrade over time?
  
• Are the seats really uncomfy for the kids?
  
• Can you get ones with a 5 point harness instead of 3? Otherwise i could always make new holes and buy some generic 5 point harness.
  
• And cheap??

I really don't want to spend too much or DH will kill me and say keep the ones we have :rolleyes:

We had a wooden chair for DS and I absolutely loved it and have nearly killed DP as he left it out in the carport in the rain for a week (i didn't know it was there) and now it is covered in mildew so i have had to get a new one for DD - which by the way was an Ikea one which is almost as good even though its a plastic and has leg holes so no chance of slipping out but no lining.
Anyway to make the wooden one more comfy i put a cushion with ties on it and in all honesty i never had a harness for it i never left DS in it for longer than a meal and never walked away from him when he was in there. Also the tray went right in close to his tummy which made it almost impossible for he to pull himself up.
I did see one on ebay a few weeks ago that went for $40-50 that was a David Jones wooden chair so pretty reasonable.
IKWYM about the lining and food my mum had one of those types as a spare and it was feral would never use one again.

Ive got a brand new one sitting here doing nothing!!!!!!!! Its the colonial light wood with the matching tray and harness. we cant use it because my kitchen is to small and with 4 kids there just isnt enough room. I dont really want the earth for it. You can always PM me and I could sneak it down the weekend of the 13th Sep and leave it with Sammi :)

Yael, we don't have wooden (I am totally in love with the Ikea Antilop.......)

BUT, in all of the restaurants I worked in before I moved to Aust........they were all wooden, and saw some major heavy duty and were brilliant.....there is one fantastic style that you can get that is really similar to the Ikea one...and cleans up SO easily and quickly....

From memory the brand name is Lipper.

It only has a groin/waist strap, but that was no problem, (Same as the antilop.....none of my 3 have ever managed an escape.)

It doesn't come with a tray, but rather you push it up to the table. Which can be a bit messy, but the huge advantage is that you can keep them in the chair for a lot longer as they feel like they are really part of the action by being at the table! (Lexie is still in her high chair no problem........)

Yael, we had (well actually have but don't use anymore) a wooden one - it's a Boori brand, same as the cots you can buy. It has a 5 point harness although in the early days we used it with a cushion which meant we had to use the harness as a three point. It was really good, easy to clean and didn't wear except for the harness which did get broken at some stage after an awful lot of use and being used as a climbing rope by two strong boys :rolleyes:
