Has anyone heard of this woman, the "baby whisperer"? What's she like?
A non gentle parenting friend of mine told me i should read her stuff and I'm wondering why, LOL :) Is it because she'd suit my style as a parent or because she thinks I need to be "taught' something? I had a look on her webpage which said basically the hypervigilance of not letting your kids cry is stopping them sleep - so maybe my friend thinks I need a message.
ANyone know of her?

Are you in Sydney, Rahjah? "The Baby Whisperer" is doing a free seminar at Lollipops, Fox studios in Sydney this Thursday 21/8 - 10am. It's an event hosted by Nurofen, and they'll even have professional carers to look after bubs while mum enjoys the speakers and some morning tea. Another guest speaker is a Relationship expert. Entry is free but you need to register online (you'll need check if there are still any free seats). You can register by following the link when you google "Nurofen baby whisperer".
I'm not sure about whether her techniques are gentle or not, but I thought I'd go along anyway to see what she has to say. If you decide to go along, let me know so I can say hi

She doesn't use gentle parenting techniques. Moving to general baby chat.

From what I can find, she has no children and no credentials. In her bio she says her sister was born when she was 9 (hmmmm and?) and she has a Diploma in Social Science.
I guess anyone can call themselves a child "sleep expert" can't they. Scary.

I saw her talk at an expo a few years ago. She seemed very likable compared to another Aussie "baby whisperer" I had seen about the place. She did have the usual tips of using white noise, consistency etc, but I just switched off with the rest there seemed to be a lot of "training" of the baby.
BTW I have a real issue with the "baby whisperer" term. I always thought it belonged to Tracey Hogg (rest her soul), who was at least a mother and recognised to some extent that there were different types of babies who needed slightly different methods.
