VBA2C less than a year after last cesarean

hi there , i currently have 3 children
a 3 yearold born naturally 23hours
a 18 month old born cesarean due to fetal distress
and a 4.5 month old born to having a cesarean only 14months before, as well as continual prelabour and doctor thinking baby was Big, which she wasnt ended up being 7.6 at 37.5 weeks

i found out again that iam pregnant currently 7 weeks, due 1year 5 days after my last cesarean,

iam just wantig to know how close people have had their vbac and , any possitive birth stories for me,

i would really love to have another natural birth , its so special and although harder the, best way for baby and mums body .

I can't help you with the experience part.

But I am planning a VBA2C next time around and am aiming for a gap of 2 years btwn last CS and next baby (ttc now). I had a 17mth gap btwn my first 2 CS.

I would probably reccommend talking to an independant midwife (if there are any in your area) and see what their opinion is on the gap. There will be a lot of differing opinions about a "safe" gap. Some say you should wait at least 18 mths others say it dosen't matter. You will be probably be hard pressed to find an ob that will support you small gap or not.

Also if you are going public, call the hospital and see what their policy is regarding VBAC and then mention VBA2C, also see if they can steer you in the direction of an ob???

my bubs will be 17 months apart, first bub was emergency c-section.
Although i am further than 12 months apart - I just wanted to say that my OB is very supportive of a VBAC and I hope you are also able to find someone who supports you!

I've been refused by one Ob and another clinic (with about 4 Ob's) for a VBA2C and there will be a gap of 2yrs between my last baby and this baby.

I dont think Ob's are very positive about VBA2C's!

Since you've already had a VB you do have a higher chance of success tho if you do wish to go ahead with a VBA2C. The recommended gap is 2yrs to make sure the scar is healed enough (there have been studies done where the risk of rupture was higher under 2yrs between caesar and VBAC).

I'm now going public with the midwives and will be showing up in labour with a Doula, its the best way for me to get the birth I want.

You've done the hards already and had a vaginal birth!

One thing I have found out recently is that cs DOES NOT eliminate the risk of uterine rupture (It takes 3 kids for me to find that out!?!?) If you're worried that the pg is too soon after the last one and your main concern is uterine rupture then I can tell you that the current research indicates the actual pg is the stress that can cause rupture and the risk of rupture during labour VS cs is practically the same.

Go with the flow, listen to your body and get a support person on board for your peace of mind.

My ob recommended waiting at least a year b4 birthing again after my first c/s (due to placenta praevia). BUT he was talking about waiting for either a VBAC or a 2nd c/s (he didn't differentiate the risk factor), so I agree with studentmum.

hi guys, thank you all so much for your replys, i also read somewhere that a first time labouring mum has the same risk of rupture as a vbac..
i had alot of pre-term labour from, 29weeks, with my last bubs , hopefully i can go a litlle bit early and dilate quickly and do it!!, a GP im seeing now , recommends i have it 4 weeks early by cesarean, do u increased risk of rupture during the last month..

but he was also the same doc, that said he would induce me for a Vbac 2 weeks early to get a smaller baby , i will be speaking to a specialist , and finding a Vbac friendly to chat to , i know there are some in adelaide, i wanted a vbac with my last bub, but unfortunately my doc i had scared me out of it with little things he would say here and there, grrrrr, definately finding a doula and or midwife, does anyoneknow how i go about finding them, or if anyone knows of any around adeliade and the hills?

I have a friend who has had one vb and 3 c/s (2 at 38 wks, one at 39 wks), plus know of several ppl who have had two c/s (39 wks or later). The idea that you need to have a c/s 4 weeks early doesn't sound at all accurate to me and could be dangerous for baby. I know of noboby whose scheduled c/s occured before 38 weeks, unless there was a dire need (placental abruption, or similar). In NSW c/s are now recommended to be performed at 39 weeks or more, updated from the 38 weeks it was only a couple of years ago.

Induction is generally not recommended for a vbac either, but I have no medical knowledge on that front!

I'd get a second opinion.
