Will I love Number Two just as much?

I know this might sound a bit mad, but I'm getting worried that I just won't feel the same way about my DD, who is due in 10 weeks. I love my DS so much - the moment I set eyes on him I just fell in love. I also have some nerves because I'm having a girl this time and I'm so used to my little boy, I feel like I don't know what to do with a girl.

Intellectually I know that I kind of felt the same about DS before he was born, I didn't know what to do with a boy. But I need to hear it from people who have been there...help.

Oh Curly, of course you will love your DD just as much as you love your DS. A mothers heart grows with every child and it is impossible to love this new baby any less. You will see, as soon as your little girl is born your heart will swell with love and joy and there will be plenty enough to go around.

I have 4 kids and love them all equally (although miss 16...I could give her away sometimes, LOL).

You will be surprised with just how much room in your heart you have for more than 1 child. But I don't ever think that you love each child in exactly the same way, because they are different children and have different qualities, so there are different things to love about them, but the 'sum total' of your love for each child is the same kwim? Like I too have 4 children and while I love each of them with all my heart, each one of them brings light into my soul for different reasons.

I had the same concern as you. I adore my eldest DS so much that I was concerned that I wouldn't feel the same way about my second. My second DS was born as few days ago and it is simply amazing! I love them both so much that I am struggling to allow other people to hold either one as they are MINE!!

I agree that a mothers love is infinite and the number of children don't matter.

Oh, I am also trying to be very careful to shower both boys with attention so the eldest doesn't feel replaced or left out. He is 2 next week and he is being amazing! Putting DS2 clothes in the washing basket, throwing out nappies, telling him "it's alright" when he cries. He is a bit whingy but we have only been home 2 days. Children are an amazing gift to a family!

With 11 months between my first two DD's...you find out just how much love and time you have for them!!!

Thats the beauty of children and love......you never think you can love another of yours the same, but when they come along your heart just opens. Its amazing how we find this unconditional love within ourselves.
Each child is different, so you will love them each in a different way...but in the same way KWIM???

I think all expectant mums to be again go thru this thought....your not alone....

Its perfectly normal to get this doubt in yourself in this time in your pg. It doesnt differ no matter how many children you have. Well it didnt for me anyway.

and you'll have exactly the same feeling when you look into your new daughters eyes for the first time.

As every child is different and the love you have for each child just grows. YOu'll giggle at your self for doubting in your love when she's here.

I feel exactly the same way except I'm not pregnant again yet!
I've always said that I'd only have DS and my main reason for this (although I have never admitted it to anyone) is because I didn't think I could love any child more than I do my DS
There may be hope for having another child yet!

Curly I thought the same thing & worried that things wouldn't be so special the second time round - smiles, rolling over, walking etc. I must say that I love my new baby girl as much as my little man & everything is just as special as when he did it.

DH had more of this concern than I did, although the closer the due date came, the more I worried :D but gosh! My two little moochies are just so different that its like I am more complete as DD#2 brings different qualities than DD#1.........so I have so many more qualities to fall in love with, if that makes sense?? Plus! Watching the two of them together, how the first is protective and mothers the second....... :heartbeat:

When I first held DD#1 I was overwhelmed and in awe and bowled over that this new baby was all mine.......when I first held DD#2 I was overwhelmed and in awe and bowled over that yet another little precious baby was all mine :D......

I think we all feel the same way during our 2nd pg. But the others are all right - you will feel so much love for the new baby you'll wonder why you were ever worried!

Its unbelievable how much your heart grows. I think with each child you have you love them more. I mean all your children more. I know when all my kids were born the love was there in a instant and felt like I had loved that child like forever.

You will love each child as it comes. Its just a mothers thing hun.

Yep, can honestly say I love my girls more than anything in this world, and I love them equally. I read somewhere recently that it's normal to have a connection with one more than the other,(not love one more) but I haven't experienced that yet! I am so excited for our third bub. At this point I feel I couldn't love anyone as much as my girls, but I know for sure that will change as I begin to see my bub grow in my tummy. xoxo
